Introduction: I've been practicing commercial real estate law for over thirty years (as either VP of Real Estate or in-house counsel) for national tenants (like Cinemark Theaters and TGI Fridays restaurants) and also various landlords that own and/or operate enclosed malls, manufacturer outlet centers, power centers, office buildings, and neighborhood shopping centers.
The leverage of having aided on both sides of the negotiation table is that I comprehend the basic motivations and needs of both tenants and landlords. My years of experience have also shown that there are real life consequences to the real estate documents wording, and you better understand what you're complying before you sign them.
I am not a litigating attorney (i.e.: I dont go to court). Im a negotiator. It is my belief that only the attorneys win if you need to resort to litigation. I specialize in negotiating fair, firm and clear contracts that are personalized to fit the operating requirements of the tenant, and dont need to be litigated. I also specialize in discovering creative solutions to complicated problems through negotiation and relationship building. I really enjoy the real estate development business, as well as leading people through the process.
