FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am covered as an "out of network provider" for many insurance companies and I will provide receipts for you to bill your insurance company. My fee is somewhat below the customary fee for a psychologist in this region. Some folks qualify for my sliding scale fee schedule which is based on your annual income. Please just call me and ask!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we may speak on the phone to see if we are a good fit and to quote your adjusted fee based on income. Then our initial meeting will be more of an in person interview, again to assess fit and goals for therapy. After the initial session, with couples or families, I will meet with each individual at least once to gain individual perspectives, develop rapport, and solidify the best approach based on individual needs. After that and during the course of treatment I will check in frequently about how the process is working, measure results, and make course corrections as needed. I typically see people once a week and sometimes less as time goes on if that seems to be the correct approach.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a clinically trained PsyD psychologist with specialty in relationship issues, trauma, and group facilitation. I rely on training that helps me to conceptualize your struggles within the interpersonal context that you live in now and how your past and family of origin affects the way you see yourself, the world, and others. I take a positive and strengths-based approach that is encouraging, empowering, and focuses less on diagnosis and medication than more historical approaches. I utilize a blend of eastern and western approaches to healing the mind and heart which I tailor to my client's differing worldviews.
