Solohub has been a great experience! My daughter loves her music teacher Michael, and I love the great prices. Jeff is great to work with and definitely runs a 5 star business.
I have been trying to find a music teacher that I really like and it's been hard. I really am kind of upset because no teacher has ever taught me what he has in two lessons. I have learned a lot more then in the last two lessons compared to other tecahers in the past. I would strongly recommend him for bass, keyboard and guitar. If you wanta be a professional musician and be in a band or just for fun he is the guy to take lessons from.
Melody was one of my first piano teachers, but by far and away the most influential. I remember feeling her love for music, and how that flowed over to me. While learning the technical aspects of piano is extremely important (and something that Melody is fantastic at teaching), what was vastly more important to me was learning to use the instrument to express emotion, and how much more can be taught besides that which is on the page.
I feel like an homage to Nick Hornbys High Fidelity is appropriate here, so with that in mind I offer my top 5 reasons to choose Mr Lane Parsons for your drum lesson needs. 1 - Your first lesson is free. Its a big opener and appropriate ice breaker. You want to learn the drums, this guy wants to help you learn. Its a match made in heaven right from the get go. Like anyone with anything worth selling, the first taste is free, and like other things, a musical habit can be addictive. Side affects may include constantly hitting things with various appendages in a rhythmic fashion and in truly hopeless cases, sleeping with a practice pad. 2 - Your lessons are on an acoustic drum kit. Look, I loved Rock Band, great party game but its a game. I made an investment in a kit, and I want to work on a kit. I showed up to work with a person, I dont want to be plugged into to a fancy video game simulation. Relying on electronic gadgets too much just leads to bad things anyway; I mean, everyones had this happen right, you plugged in intending to learn to drum like Neil Peart and instead you found yourself disengaging everyone's life support for the good of the mission and hunting Sarah Connor. What a mess that day was, its just the wrong path for me, Im sticking with the acoustic kit. 3 - You will be shown how to setup your own kit in your environment. Early in your lesson journey, should you choose to take the trip, Lane will come to your place and help you optimize your kit. This was a huge benefit for me. I felt so lost in my initial setup, I dont know how many times I tweaked things and was never satisfied. I didnt know what I was doing and I found the resources on figuring it out for myself lacking. There are no rules, Do what feels comfortable seemed to be the name of the game and that was immensely vague and unhelpful. Being comfortable behind the kit is so important, it lays the foundation for everything else and just makes it easier to commit to the hours I want to spend doing this drumming thing. 2 - You will have opportunities to play with other musicians. Lane regularly organizes multi-instrumental jam sessions and drum circles that are free to attend when you can. Each scenario has its own flavor. Doing the multi-instrumental jam is fun because you get to try out some things that you have been practicing and have a musical dialogue with other people. The drum circle thing is great because you are generally going to work on hand drums which can feel a little more intimate, a little more primal. Not to digress into too much hippy dippy, kumbaya, whatever but drumming is old; its older than animal domestication, farming, cities, all that stuff that makes us civilized. For tens of thousands of years that was what we did as small groups of people when hanging out to entertain ourselves and build communality, and you know what, it works. Its fun, its participatory, its relaxing and to steal from another author, Mr Kurt Vonnegut, it can give you a sense that something somewhere wants you to like it here. 1 - The lessons are all about you. Lanes got a great curriculum vitae, glowing endorsements from his teachers and comes from a strong musical family. All that gets put into your service for the purposes of your lessons. This is an attitudinal difference that I really appreciate. Its not about how I can fit myself into the Lane Parsons' method of percussion. He wants to know what I want, what I want to achieve, what I want to say musically and he puts his knowledge, method and expertise into helping me achieve that. Its not being told what to do, its about finding your own voice and giving you the tools to make it strong. So there you have it, my top 5 reasons for picking Lane Parsons for your drum lesson needs. Good luck to you in your musical journey.
I have known Mary for over 8 years, as both a musician and friend. She is extremely knowledgeable and talented in everything she does! Mary teaches piano, voice and guitar, plays the organ/piano/guitar at our church, as well as accompanying our choirs. I would highly recommend her as a music teacher!
I have been taking lessons from Jerimiah since August 2016. He has a wonderfully welcoming and positive attitude, which makes his studio a stress-free environment to improve your playing and challenge yourself. He is very accommodating of students' busy schedules, and is always responsive to text and email. He is very attentive to individual students' goals, and is proficient in a diverse repertoire from musical theater to jazz to classical, both for piano and vocals. He puts on seasonal recitals for his students, which is helpful for student goal-setting and performance confidence. I would recommend Jerimiah to vocal and piano students of any age or skill level. -Dan N.
My 14 years old daughter started voice lesson with Brooke in July 2010 at a local music school. When Brooke moved to a different state, a year and half later, my daughter really missed her. We decided to try lesson via Skype and its been working extremely well for over a year now. My daughter thinks Brooke is a great singer who can really teach. My husband and I are more than happy with the progress our daughter made since working with Brooke and we definitively recommend her to anyone who wants to learn singing.
Jeff is a very knowledgeable and gifted teacher. He brings a unique approach to the table teaching songs of his client's choice; meanwhile incorporating the best techniques for chords and chord progressions. He is very considerate and values his clients time and certainly gets the most out of each lesson. I'm happy to report that I learned my first song, die a happy man by Thomas Rhett, after 2 lessons with Jeff. I highly recommend him to guitarists of all ages and experience.
My daughter had her first guitar lesson with Traveling Music Teachers (David Yorty) on Monday. He inspired her by playing Taylor Swift songs and it sounds like she has some natural ability. I greatly appreciated the lesson being in our home -- I didn't have to drive/wait/drive. Highly recommend!
I first was drawn to Kevin Jones because of his witty advertisements in Facebook homeschooling groups. He seemed to have a very good sense of humor and I thought I could help him out if we became Partners since I was opening a new homeschooling electives program to take place on Mondays. The response to Kevin teaching guitar with us has been amazing! I love his willingness to work with the little kiddos even though they are a little antsy because some music teachers will not allow that unless a student is older. He seems to be a master of his craft and I appreciate his professionalism :) Our home schooling program is certainly glad to have found him!
My kids just started lessons with Catherine. So far we really like her. She is great with my girls and I think that they will learn lots under her. She seems to have a good system for teaching children about music and theory.
Nocturne connected us with a knowledgable, patient, and kind piano teacher.
Christina is an excellent piano teacher for my 6 year old daughter.
I started taking lessons with Leandro because a mutual friend recommended him. I had a bad history of former teachers who didn't really have a lot of technique and couldn't fix my vocal issues and help me to get the results I wanted. So I was kind of wary of lessons in general, and I had a lot of bad habits that I had built over the years. But after just over 2 months of lessons with Leandro, I already felt a big difference in my voice. The exercises he gave me were personalized to my specific problems, and he was available to answer all my questions, even if it wasn't my lesson day. And I felt like he always had my vocal health in mind. Today singing is so much more comfortable. I feel like my voice is healthy, and I feel much more confident when I perform because of the technical awareness that I learned in my lessons with Leandro.
Before May, I had never picked up a violin. Now, I’ve had a few lessons with Alex, and I am beyond impressed. He is very encouraging and patient with me. I’m an adult trying to learn the basics of playing violin before I head off to college, and I’m glad I chose to take lessons from him. I like his approach of practicing different variations to rhythms and style for certain songs and scales. It’s something I would’ve never though to do on my own, and it has helped me improve while practicing the violin and my music theory. I would recommend him any day to anyone.
Brett is a very enthusiastic and professional music instructor. He has a very wide range of music to teach but is also more than willing to learn a new song to teach to his students. If it can be played on a guitar, Brett can teach it.
Great teachers, and easy to coordinate lessons! All around awesome experience in advancing my piano skills.
JR is a great musician and a great teacher. He' s been teaching my 7 year old son for the last year and a half. The progression has been phenomenal. Highly recommend
Alex is a great instructor, knowledgeable in music theory and very attentive to my child's technique. He is patient with my young son and is a positive influence on his musical growth. I would highly recommend Alex to anyone with music aspirations.
Josh is a great, passionate teacher, whose positive energy suffuses everything he does. I have been working with Josh to take my drumming to the next level, and I have not been disappointed!
