I was really happy with Obsolete Tile Roofing and Concrete Services. I had roof repairs that needed to be made in a timely manner due to a home inspection with a sale. He was very responsive, honest and got the job done. I would recommend. Thank you!

I originally hired KMA to do some work on my gutters, but it ended up that the job required a contractor. He was very gracious and actually came out two times to verify if he could do it, and did not bill me. I found this to be very honest and refreshing.

We had our bathroom upgraded - Forest was great and his team always left a clean worksite. The tile work was well done and when we did have small issues they were there to take care of them.

This contractor accepted this job as a remodel done wrong. It was slate natural stone which is difficult to work with. The contractors all did well & he found a leak from their her contractor which he fixed. They did a good job & you just have to monitor work regularly. A good crew!

Daniel and his team helped my wife and I transform a house built in 1906 into a modern masterpiece. They did an UNBELIEVABLE job at a very reasonable price. At first, I was a little hesitant to use them as one reviewer perviously gave them a wretched review, but I couldnt be happier with the end-results. They completely remodeled the basement, added 2 bathrooms, re-did another bathroom, dry walled multiple rooms, built an amazing egress window well, installed a water heater, sewer ejector pump, kitchenette, and laid tile/ flooring throughout the house. Separately, on a personal level Daniel and his crew are some of the nicest individuals you'll ever meet. IF YOU ARE EVER ON THE FENCE ABOUT USING DANIEL AND HIS CREW DONT BE....FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME AT ANY TIME AND ID BE HAPPY TO SHOW OFF HIS WORK. This certainly wont be the last time we use him. I had Radick install glass tile backsplash in my new kitchen. He also replaced Pergo flooring which had been damaged from a water leak. I was told by two other contractors that the flooring had to be completely replaced. This would entail removing and replacing the floor not only in the kitchen but also in the adjoining family room since it was one continuous floor. When Radick looked at the floor, he said " I'm pretty sure I can replace only the damaged part." He did just that and did an excellent job. His work was absolutely beautiful, both the flooring and the backsplash tile job. I have already asked him for an estimate on another project. I feel that his pricing is very fair and he works diligently and quickly. He is definitely my go to contractor for any future work that I need.

We hired Flawless Floors to handle some challenging plumbing work with re-routing of pipes in the bathroom, as well as tiling the entire shower wall. Gilbert has been excellent to work with; punctual, honest, friendly, and his work is exceptional. We couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommend hiring this contractor. You will not be disappointed. Photos of the new shower tile work will follow soon!

A Dream kitchen comes true! Giza Stone Works offered us products that were far more superior than anything else we looked at and at a quarter the cost of everything else we were quoted. The entire kitchen remodel was completed in a timely manner. Alex and his team were very punctual, clean and pleasant to be around. The work site was kept clean and Alex answered any questions I had before during and after completion of this project. Lizeth in the office was courteous and prompt to return calls and answer questions. The crew along with Alex and George are amazing craftsmen. I have referred several people to GSW for great products and an amazing job. I had previous contractor nightmares, so I was worried about contracting with anyone, this experience was The best! Highly recommend Giza Stone Works. Thank you, Alex, you were true to your word and that is the best gift I could have asked for. Five Stars from me!!!

Paolo came and did a wonderful job on the backsplash for my bathroom and kitchen. It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! He may not have as many reviews as some of the other men on Thumbtack, which caused me to hesitate at first, but he is more talented and better than some of the other guys with more reviews. I can attest to that because I hired another tile company off Thumbtack (before Paolo) because they had more reviews and they did an awful job! They left their dirty buckets here, they messed up my guest bath and I had to hire someone else to come behind them! Contrast that to Foolproof Tile (Paolo) who is very conscientious in your home, no mess at all, he is meticulous with the tile placement, he measured everything evenly and accurately, he is clean and completed my project in what I thought was record time... just a few hours! I am SO happy with the work today, and his professional attitude. He will be doing more work for me in the fall for my Master bath. He speaks English very well too, do not hesitate to try this company!

My wife and I could not be happier with the work the Chris did for us. We had a few different tile contractors come out to give us bids on a shower and bathroom floor remodel. It was like pulling teeth to get the other contractors to return phone calls or emails, or to show up on time, if at all, to give us an estimate. We were impressed with Chris from our first interaction with her. She was very quick to respond, and happy to answer all of our questions. She was the only contractor that showed up on time for the estimate. We got our bid pretty quickly and decided to go with Lotus Tile for our project. Chris was on time every single day, put in a full days work each day (sometimes longer than 8 hours), and cleaned meticulously at the end of the day. She came up with a few different layout options for the bathroom and spoke with us about each one, having us make the final choice, as it was our bathroom. We weren't really sure which would be the best, and trusted her as a professional to chose the best layout option, and we were not disappointed! Her tile work is absolutely beautiful, you can tell that Chris takes a lot of pride in the work that she does. You can also tell that she really enjoys the work that she does, she always had a smile on her face while she was working. We would recommend Chris to anyone looking to hire a true tile professional!

Wait, seriously, go no further! Scot with prime handyman is who you want to hire! I’m telling you! I hired Scot just to paint the interior of my home, yet after a nightmare experience with a general contractor who left my home unfinished, Scot handled it all! He literally finished everything the other guy didn’t, basically became my new General Contractor to help me out, took over the whole project, got it all done in a timely manner, was there to consult as well as doing the work, didn’t even flinch when more work was needed to do to fix the other guys mistakes, then painted the place beautifully, and left my home better then how I imagined. This guys the real deal. Now and again you get an amazing find on thumbtack of someone you know you’ll always call from now on for work, Scot with Prime Handyman is it!! Truly great experience. He will impress you for sure!

I hired mark to install tile in my kitchen after having some water damage, and my experience working with him was fantastic! My initial impression was he was trustworthy and took pride in his craft, and he didn't prove me wrong. From the start, he was very responsive and took full initiative in getting what was need to complete the job, providing his thoughts on what would work the best, making it easy on my hectic schedule, and communicated with me throughout the project. The floors look great!! I will definitely be using Mark again for any additional projects I have.

My husband and I hired Custom Builders LLC (Kaleb) to tear down the half hall staircase leading to the second level of our home and replaced it with a open rail and baluster staircase. Kaleb's responsiveness throughout the job was great. We where kept informed about the timing of when materials would arrive and when each segment of the job would be completed. Kaleb's work is high quality and he kept a very clean work space between each segment of the project. We got very good value for the job. We had done some research about prices before we hired Custom Builders and found Kaleb's price for the job was very reasonable. The timing on completion of each segment of the job was longer than planned. Completion time was double the time that was initially set. There were a number of issues with getting the correct materials from Kaleb's vender. If you are willing to work with a small contractor who does the work himself Kaleb Shultz (Custom Builders LLC) is your guy.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to get tiling done?

You can install tiling on your floors, walls, counters, kitchen backsplash, outdoor patio and shower — to name a few places. Tile is beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and resilient against kids and pets. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Often, tile installation specialists quote a price per square foot for installation. Costs can increase if you want the pro to supply the tile instead of ordering it yourself. Other factors that can increase cost include specialized installation with a unique design that will require more labor to install.

Prep work will also affect tile installation costs. Demolition of the existing floor, counter or backsplash takes time and energy that will be reflected in the price. Necessary repairs, such as a sub-floor that needs bolstering before tile flooring can be installed, will also increase costs. For tile showers, one example of tile installation cost may be approximately $25 per square foot including all materials and labor. Average tile installation costs for backsplashes may run anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the materials selected and the amount of labor required. The larger the area where tile is being installed, the lower the price per square foot will likely be. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for wood-look tile installation in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
