We are the owners of a historic building here in Crested Butte, Colorado. We have hired Chris to not only rebuild this building in compliance to the historic preservation codes of the town but to do the design of the building as well. I have been very impressed with Chris's integrity and also with his timeliness in getting the work done. He has creative ideas and has a way of communicating these ideas. His work is clear and concise. I felt these qualities to be very necessary due to the fact that we needed to obtain a permit from the local Board of Zoning and Architectural Review (BOZAR). The process is a lengthy one with multiple meetings with the Design and Review Committee. Chris was able to communicate with clarity exactly how the project was going to be preformed bringing trust that the preserving the character of this historic building would remain. These steps would have been quite over-whelming for me alone. I can not say how solid it feels to have him represent me and my project.

We were looking for a new wooden floor for our vacation home in Crested Butte, CO. Chris couldn't have been nicer to us or more cooperative in this undertaking. He was so helpful to explain all about the different woods and laminates, as well as, the whole process that was required. I was having a hard time making a selection and he was so patient to send me several samples to our house in Texas. This was extra effort on his part. Also, he was patient with me and my many questions. I feel like we made the best selection because Chris cared that we got the best quality for our money and really wanted us to be happy. He always did what he said he would do, therefore being very reliable. We trusted him with our house and furnishings since we were not in CO at the time of installation. He did a beautiful job of the whole entire floor and was finished in a timely manner. needless to say, we were very pleased with Chris and his work. He's a very dependable guy! Chris Laggis totally redesigned the exterior and decks of a set of 4 duplexes, of which we are one of the owners. He is very talented and the final result looked nothing like the original - which was very outdated from 30+ years ago. We are thrilled with the results and found Chris to be very talented, conscientious and professional, both as a designer and builder. The project did take a considerable amount of time, however, we also were subject to the Colorado winter! In addition to the exterior remake, there was structural work as well in replacing/reframing windows & doors, electrical wiring, rockwork and roof line changes. We could not be happier with the quality of his work and used him in also doing some interior work for us as well - replacing flooring and kitchen counters. He was very reliable, trustworthy and we would definitely use him again in the future!

Working with Chris was as quick and easy and honest as a homeowner could ask for. After discussing the project, he helped come up with a better idea that would still fall well within my budget, gave me a quote and time frame. In the end, he came in under his initial quote and earlier than the initial discussed time frame and I couldn't be happier with the end product.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For some jobs I bid by the square foot. For other jobs I work on a "Cost Plus" basis. It just depends on the situation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am always brushing up on my CAD skills. I also follow online forums and read design and construction literature to stay current.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Ever since I was a young kid I loved drawing buildings. I always knew I wanted to get into architecture.
