FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I bill at $300 per hour and my retainers are flexible, depending on the case, but our standard for divorce cases is $3500. My paralegal's time is billed at $115 an hour and I have her do as much of the routine work as possible to limit your costs and expenses. I review and approve everything, however.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We begin with an in-depth interview to determine what a client needs and wants. We identify the legal and factual issues and discuss them with the client to determine the best way to accomplish the client's goals. We also educate the client on the expectations of the courts and discuss the possible need of expert witnesses to provide the evidence that the court will require. We are also sensitive to settlement possibilities and discuss those thoroughly with the client.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver College of Law and worked, during law school, as a law clerk and bailiff for a District Court Judge who was assigned to domestic court, then criminal court . As with all attorneys, I update my education regularly through Continuing Legal Education classes. Immediately following law school I became a Deputy State Public Defender, which is where I truly learned how to try cases successfully. I have tried over 150 jury trials and many hundreds of trials to the court. The courtroom is my second home.
