Introduction: That's easy, because I care. My name is Craig Dickson and I am the owner/operator of ACT. I personally perform most services and am present on every job site. When you call that national franchise you get a couple of young guys that have to cleran 5 to 7 houses a day, are paid entry level wages supplimented by commission for upselling. If they don't sell, they get the heck out and move on to the next pigeon. if they do sell, they're mission is accomplished and it benefits them to get the heck out and move on to the next victim. The bottom line is that they want to get it done and get home to their real life and most likely a cold six pack of beer. When you call me on the other hand, you are getting a small business owner representing his company, the entity that he spent the last 23 years building from the ground up. This is my bread and butter and my sons' college education. This is my life and everything I do is built around it. What does ACT have that distinuishes it from the competition? Easy.... ....Me! I like the many ways I can apply myself. You see, I am a consumer too and when I started ACT back in 88, I did so with a premise in mind, a philsophy of sorts and you know what? That hasn't changed one iota since the first day I went into business for myself. I have always had a very strong opinion of what customer service is and what it takes to provide excellence when doing so. I look around and it amazes me just how many businesses--big businesses too-- don't get it. I have competitve rates but I bet my margin is much higher than my competitors, regardless of what outrageous prices they are charging. Because I have had zero problem stops in the last four years, my overhead is quite abit lower right off the bat. Combine that with repeat business and referrals and there goes my advertising budget, a savings I can pass on to the customer which makes them appreciate me even more and serves to increase revenues even further. Isn't it easy to see how that can snowball? Now let's take the guy who gouged the customers all day long and imagine him for a moment counting his ill gotten gains at the end of the day. I bet he thinks he made out pretty good. But then lets look at his problem stops...industry standards say 5% is actually an acceptable rate. Because his customers are all diosgruntled his are undoubtedly twice that. Not only does he have to go out and rework for free, but he lost revenues from repeats and refferals, plus the need to spend a fortune in advertising to get a steady flow of new customers all the time because he keeps very few of his old ones. Now he's paying out money, not raking it in. When I enter a home, my only concern is how to achieve optimum results and an elevated rate of customer satisfaction, that comes before profit for me. No matter the dollar amount or what neighborhood the home is located in. I do my very best EVERY SINGLE TIME! Sometimes I actually pay to do a job. But I never worry about it because it has always come back to me in ways that are far reaching and hard to understand, but very real. I end up making money but being generous and honest. It's no secret, that's why I can never understand why so many businesses do things the way they do. I feel good about what I do...
