Craftsman / Farmhouse,
Great Eye For Design! Maryann did a great job helping our real estate clients in Highlands Ranch. She made sure they are show and photo ready. She is on-time and very personable. Can't wait to do more work together!Apr 4, 2019Verified
This designer is aggressive, demanding and expensive. Driven by money only.Apr 29, 2019VerifiedSwell Creations & Design LLC's reply
Hi April, thank you for the feedback. I truly do value all input I receive and work to better my services. Before you wrote this review we spoke about how I can improve my invoicing process – I understand how the reminders can seem demanding and I am revising the workflow to incorporate your comments. I am sorry you feel that our brief encounter defines me as money driven – most of my clients who complete more than just a consultation are very happy with the results my collaborative process can yield. Please know that I am happy to answer any questions you may have and I hope your remodel goes well.
Maryann was extremely helpful through the whole process. She helped me redesign 4 spaces in my house and I felt like she did a great job figuring out my style after some initial time. I needed some carpentry work and she was able to help coordinate with some local carpenters to help with design and install of some beautiful pieces in my house. Additionally she helped install and distress a beautiful faux brick wall that looks better than anything I could have done on my own. She also was conscious of my budget when picking out pieces to fill the space and was very willing to work with a few pieces I already owned that I wanted to incorporate into the design. While she did a great job overall I had to mark 4/5 stars because there were a couple of pieces that ended up not working well and sometimes a little miscommunication. I think for the price she asks for, her work is a good value. Thanks Maryann!Sep 26, 2018Verified
I should be writing this review when I can include photos, but maybe I can update it once some of the Maryann magic has happened. I decided to go ahead however and let everyone know how flexible, responsive and talented she is! Maryann is helping us with our new townhome and the first phase is paint. Maryann picked fabulous colors and referred me to a terrific painter. The second phase will be help with furniture layout and furniture recommendations to achieve the look I want. I keep vacillating between purchasing a package that Maryann can put together or having her help me by the hour, and Maryann has been so understanding. Maryann has my highest recommendation and I'll update with photos soon! Fabulous person and designer!Jan 20, 2018Verified
I was at a loss on a color for my guest bedroom that I was renovating. Maryann promptly replied to my request for a consultation. Maryann could see past the mess of my room while evaluating my style and fitting a selection into the rest of my house to provide me with color choices. She provided me with an exciting suggestion for the breakfast nook that took into account my interest in a bit of faux painting/plaster work. She quickly understood my style and goals and was easy and fun to discuss them with her.Jul 31, 2019Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I work hourly on most projects, as all projects and clients require a different amount of time. I give you estimates on how many hours it will take to complete the space you are wanting to complete. For rooms that are a blank slate, I do offer room packages which consist of a flat fee for design, product purchase list, and an install.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Initial Consultation - After we have already spoken on the phone with you to briefly discuss your project, we will setup an Initial Consultation. This meeting is for us to fully evaluate the project space and to gather all the necessary information that we’ll need. The Initial Consultation includes the following: • Space Analysis: understanding possibilities, discussing ideas and goals, functionality of area and offering general suggestions. • Visual Dialogue: review of photos to build rapport and mutually understand the desired aesthetic. • Defining the budget, scope and schedule of project. ______________________________________________________________________ Agreement & Fees - We prepare a written, customized agreement outlining the specific areas for your review and approval. We then require the first set of hours to begin work (packages need to be paid in full). ______________________________________________________________________ Creation of Design Concept - This is when the fun begins. The designer will start putting together all the pieces of your project to make it come together seamlessly. The Design Concept process includes the following: • Gathering of conceptual ideas such as finish selections, colors, fabrics, furniture & lighting. • Preparing technical drawings if needed to implement your design and properly communicate the intentions to you and the various installers. • Evaluating design plans with you and refining schemes and finalizing the design plan. General pricing of products will be supplied. • Utilizing necessary experts in the design field to achieve final goals. This could include contractors, wallpaper installers, painters, window treatment experts, electricians, tile installers, carpenters and others. ______________________________________________________________________ Purchasing & Coordinating - We create a product purchase list for each space being designed that includes each item to be ordered and any important details about each item. Once all the items have been approved, the client will place the orders and coordinate with the designer on when the pieces should arrive. We will also communicate with vendors and contractors to keep your project on track and moving forward. ______________________________________________________________________ Project Installation - We don't stop at project design and purchasing. We make sure you are 100% happy with every detail! Project installation includes placing all furniture, finishing touches, art and accessories. After a project is finalized, there is the possibility of a photography session of the space.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have an A.F.A. in Art and Design and a B.A. in Business and Finance from Pennsylvania State University. After graduation, I began working for a large home warranties corporation as a financial analyst. I found that I could merge my passion for art and design with my knowledge in finance and budgeting to help homeowners achieve their visions of their home without breaking their budget.
