I've had many personal trainers in my life and Nick is by far the best one. He genuinely cares to get you in the best shape of your life or to meet your goal, plus he knows his nutrition! I recently completed an amazing and successful mountain bike race season where I managed to maintain a disciplined and intense training schedule. I made a habit of cooking healthy meals, taking my supplements, completing a ridiculous amount of squats and committing to a slightly unhealthy love affair with my bike. I demanded from my body more than I ever thought it would give me. My motivation for all of this came from Rachel with Nutrition Works. She graciously took me under her wing and set up my first nutrition and training program. It was based on perceived exertion (no heart monitor needed!) and built me up according to what my race schedule was like that month. Theres actually a science to this stuff, who knew? I learned so much from Rachel during this time, but she also encouraged me to learn from myself, from my body. I used the local race series to practice hydrating, eating and recovery. I learned the valuable lesson that dried apricots were not the best food to eat while racing, but almond butter and jelly sandwiches were perfect. My body responded very quickly to its new routine, and my riding and endurance was really starting to improve. My goal for the last endurance race of the season was to ride at least 100 miles, an accomplishment I never thought possible so quickly. I'm proud to say that I finished that race with 130 miles under my belt, and I attribute a lot of that success to Rachel. I look forward to coming in strong next season, and am excited to see what Nutrition Works has in store for me!
I first worked with Spring about 10 years ago. I was very, very ill & no one could figure out what was wrong (Hospitals, Drs, etc). With some dietary and nutritional shifts Spring guided me back to feeling healthy. I was able to begin working and enjoying time with my family and dogs again. I have worked with Spring on and off theough out the last 10 years to keep myself feeling better than ever. I am 53 and no one believes me. I look and feel younger than I have in years!
I participated in a nutrition program with Brian Lewis. He provided weekly coaching and encouragement regarding healthy eating and weight loss. Brian approached his responsibility with me as a team member; we created a project we worked on together and for which we both had a sense of responsibility. I found this very motivating. Someone else cared about my success! I learned that how one eats is primary to weight loss; that exercise has an important role to play but one can not exercise one’s self into weight loss. I also came to see the importance of sleep and stress reduction. Brian taught me these things over the twelve-week program. I learned that there are levers I can move in my diet to regain control when I have excursions – those darn social eating opportunities. Brian executed his role with high expectations, respect, and understanding. He had answers for all my questions, no matter how goofy. He listened when I explained the life events that were my barriers to success – and offered suggestions for getting around them. I am enamored by people who do their jobs well. I consider Brian to be part of the village of people I need to care for me at a very stressful junction in my life.
My weight and health has always been a source of anxiety for me. Having a small boned body and being short but not obese, has proved it very difficult for me to find the right food and dietary plan to help me get back on a road to health and lose weight. Initially I had little hope, but Melissa was right there by my side. It was hard but with her help, support and guidance I have been seeing amazing results. She has been right at my side encouraging, guiding me and being my biggest cheerleader. Her exercise plan is challenging and gives the best results. I have re-found my waistline and my flabby arms have started to get definition again. My goal was to fit into my white skinny jeans, and with the help of Melissa, I fit into them again. Melissa never discourages me to not eat what I want, instead she preaches moderation and gives you alternatives- if you fall off the wagon one day, jump back on the next is what she tells me. She is patient and firm at the same time. She has given me the tools to live a life that is vibrant and healthy and energetic. From cooking lessons, one-on-one training sessions and shopping trips she has been just what I needed. I highly recommend her to everyone.
