Aaron returned my call right away. We scheduled my window cleanings during that call. Aaron cleaned my windows inside and out scraping paint speckles off of them from my painters. He rinsed all of my screens and cleaned the tracks. I would have preferred the windows that slid to be removed and the tracks cleaned that way, but none-the-less he did a great job. Aaron was professional, easy going and did a great job. I would definitely recommend him and I will certainly use Pane Therapy again.

I am now the proud owner of the cleanest gutters in my neighborhood. Francisco also recommended and executed some repairs including patching a hole in the overhang of my garage and matching the paint. He did such an incredible job and I would definitely recommend this company, not only for the quality of work, but for the ease of communication and affordability as well. I could not be happier with the job that was done and will definitely be using this company again in the future!

My husband and I had a baby this past year, and we don't have a lot of time for cleaning and whatnot. When I noticed two snows in the near future, I knew I had to hire someone for our gutters and yard. JO Grounds was able to come next day, which was MUCH appreciated. I wasn't home while everything was getting done, so it was a nice surprise when I got home from work. I never told my husband, so it was a VERY nice surprise for him! THANK YOU, JO GROUNDS!!! I would definitely recommend this company to friends and family.

Forest and his team did a great job painting the interior walls and trim of our house. They listened to everything we wanted and gave great advice for what needed to be done, given the fact we were first time home buyers. They went above our expectations and we couldn't be happier.

Illusion of Kolors painted the exterior of my home which is 30 years old with cedar siding. Over the past 8 years I've had it repainted 2 times, more than any of my neighbors, and each time the paint has peeled. Jake had his representative from Sherwin Williams come to my house and make a recommendation about the product to use in order to stop the peeling. They did a fantastic job with prep and were quick in completing the job. I literally had no areas that were missed or not done properly. I will definitely use them again!

Mark was prompt, friendly, professional and a great communicator. He helped us do some last minute "make ready" items to prepare our house to sell. Mark performed varied jobs from painting to repair work and was thorough with his communication through out the process. I would definitely recommend Mark.

James did a great job. He came by the house and evaluated the job. Got the paint the next morning and handled everything while I was at work. He also taped the trim and ceilings which was nice to ensure good lines.

Let me just say, I rarely write reviews but Gabriel was so awesome I had to. Gabriel has the two best things you could find in a contractor: professionalism and perfectionism. It's not just a one-off job for him, he genuinely cares about his work and your satisfaction. I hired him to put up wallpaper in my office and to paint the first floor and basement of my house. Due to some textures on my office walls, the job was a little more work than he had anticipated. Instead of just charging me more at the end like most contractors would do (and have done in the past) he informed me of the extra charge but he felt bad about it so he subtracted it from the painting quote he gave me. Amazing! He was also able to paint my walls quickly and efficiently. I'm beyond satisfied and highly recommend Gabriel!

Todd and Meaghan were very attentive and went out of their way to make our house look great! They came to our home for a free estimate then again to go over colors and location details. They took all of the cabinet doors to their warehouse so they could paint and wouldn't get anything on our other surfaces, which was great. When they came back to paint the bases, it took a while and our house looked like it was quarantined but in the end it's definitely worth it for them to do all the dirty work :). They even came back on a Sunday and gave up their weekend to finish it all. I love how everything turned out and am glad they went along with my vision. They're pretty reasonable as far as cabinet painting goes and it was worth the investment. Thanks Stroke Paint + Design!

I have worked with Five Star Painting on two projects so far, they are now my my preferred painting company and I will continue to use them for all of my projects. Being a Project Manager, I want to work with companies who are professional, responsive and who care and deliver a quality outcome and at a good price. What I like most about Five Star Painting is their process, right away the schedule someone to provide you with a free estimate, they are knowledgeable in what they do and can offer many suggestions. As soon as you accept the quote, you are contacted by a Project Manager who oversees your project from start to finish. The painters are extremely hardworking and skilled. They show up on time and are clean and professional. I had Five Star Painting paint three bedrooms, bathroom and a full basement with ceilings, they did an amazing job. Don't waste time calling and getting quotes from anyone else, call Five Star Painting, you won't regret it! Leah

SKETCHY! Guy came out, covered in drywall/paint/mess. Asked him to take his boots off, he says "I swear they aren't dirty" - I insisted he remove his boots. Then he comes upstairs, looks at the job, no tape measure, no notes, totally unprepared....then says "OK we'll get you a price no later than tomorrow." As he was leaving and putting his boots back on, I noticed my doormat was covered in white drywall dust, even though he claimed his boots were not dirty. 2 days have gone by, no bid, no email back, no response....CRICKETS. SKETCHY SKETCHY SKETCHY!!

We hired Jason of Creative Touch Painting to paint the exterior of our house and he did an amazing job at about 35% less than the next closest bid. He is a skilled professional who is reliably on-time every day, very clean and conscientious, friendly and a great communicator. We hired Jason again to do interior painting and carpentry repair work in our 1908 home, and found his wood-working skills to be superior; he also expertly fixed some cracks in the walls. We give Jason the highest recommendation possible. Perhaps the true measure of his integrity is this: our dogs LOVE him.

My experience with Master Painting was a pleasure start to finish. All communication with Israel was very prompt and professional and he was out the next morning to give me a quote. I needed the work done within a short time frame and Israel and his team went out of their way to make that work. Israel stands behind his work and having satisfied customers is important to him. Israel and his team were very respectful in my home. The finished product was beautiful and made the interior of my house feel brand new. I would definitely recommend working with Master Painting for your next painting project!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

    • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
    • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
    • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
    • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225

    How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

This is a repaint (including a little drywall repair) job of a downtown condo - damages were caused by putting down new floors - various dings throughout. The painters would have to put down very good protection for the floors (floors are very easily damaged). Painters will need to be professional in their demeanor and be experienced at their jobs. They will need to be insured and careful (appropriately protecting all surfaces - that are not being painted).
