Melody is teaching my 8 year old daughter piano and voice. She is very calm, patient, and encouraging and my daughter looks forward to her lessons. I was worried that a 45 min. lesson would be too long for a child, but Melody does a great job of alternating singing with piano and basic musical instruction to keep it interesting. She is very knowledgeable about music and has a comfortable studio in her apartment. We enjoy visting with her friendly labradoodle too! I'd definitely recommend her to anyone interested in piano, voice, or a combination of both.Nov 13, 2014Verified
I was really nervous about starting lessons and signing in front of a stranger, but Melody made me feel very comfortable to let me belt my voice out and not to be afraid.Sep 13, 2019Verified

Melody made herself available on short notice to help my daughter get ready for a musical audition. She is very encouraging, building confidence about what my daughter does well while pointing out areas to improve without being negative. She is, of course, technically knowledgable, so we trust her instruction. We plan to continue with voice lessons no matter how the audition goes. Melody is everything we hoped to find in a vocal coach.Nov 26, 2014Verified
I've been taking lessons from Melody for about 2 years now and have loved every minute of it! She's not only knowledgeable but very patient. My request was to start from the beginning even though I had played many years ago. Three music books later and I'm still excited about continuing to learn and we work at a pace that is good for me. I would recommend her to everyone at any age!!! Thanks Melody... you're wonderful!!! Suzann Bron 7/7/2019Jul 7, 2019Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge $25/30 minute lesson; $35/45 minute lesson; $45/60 minute lesson. Students reserve lessons for the month by paying at the first lesson of each month: cash, check or Venmo. If a lesson is missed, we can try to reschedule if I have been informed of the absence with 24 hours notice.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? In the beginning, I want to get to know the student's music background (if any) and what goals they have. I like to know what style of music they desire to play/sing and how they best learn. I am fairly flexible in teaching style, seeking to find what works best for different learners.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am a member of the National Music Teachers Association and Colorado Music Teachers Association. These organizations provide opportunities for continuing ed, as well as keeping me informed of opportunities for students. I also read articles and have attended a national conference for the past 7 years. I have a minor in Music Education from Kansas State University. Music has always been a part of my life, whether learning, teaching, performing, songwriting, accompanying, directing children's choirs or worship-leading contemporary church bands.
