- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I was approached by a young lady who was a senior in high school. She wanted her senior portraits done and her parents were not able to pay for them. She had very little money, so she wanted to pay me to take just a couple of images for graduation announcements, etc. This reminded me of what life was like when I was in high school, and there was no way I was going to let this poor girl not have the senior portrait experience she deserved. I agreed to do the shoot for a fee that would make any photographer cringe; less than a tenth of what I normally charge. Instead of a quick shoot, we headed out and spent a couple of hours, at several different locations, with a few clothing changes. I edited all of the images and delivered to the young lady a few days later and she was ecstatic! After all was said and done, I made nothing on this shoot but I made a beautiful young lady very happy.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Do your research, but remember, the lowest quote isn't always the best quote. As they say, "you get what you pay for."
