They came to look at the job and we agreed to do it. They came and dug up the concrete and installed plumbing in our new bath in the basement we were finishing. I scheduled to have inspection the next which passed with excellent colors. They came back the next day to pour and close up the concrete and install the shower pan. They came back after we put drywall to install fixtures. They also installed new faucet in our kitchen. They were very professional and cleaned up after working. I would strongly recommend them for any plumbing job. Their admin is also excellent. She communicated with me in a very prompt manner and very professionally as well. I love this team and would use them again!

Very pleased with Rashad's service. Good communications before he came to our house. Spent quality time with me using his camera to personally show me the problems in my 70' septic tank piping. Gave me temporary and affordable solutions I can try for 3-6 months and also gave me details and pricing for a longer-term permanent fix. Very pleased with his professionalism, personal care, positive attitude, and affordable pricing. We plan to use him in the future, since we are going to go with his short-term suggestions for several months and see how things work out. If we can't manage the problem with our piping, we will consider the more expensive solution in the next 6-12 months.

I needed Mike to repair some water damage to exterior cabinet doors. Quality, excellent. Very much on time, Mike showed up on time and returned on time. It was nice that he takes cabinet doors to his work shop, and not constantly kneeling down to repair problem. As all other contractors wanted to do. I believe therefore the quality of workmanship is much better. Time wise, about a week, but this was discussed in advance. Mike had doors repaired and in back in place by deadline. All went well. Would, I use Mike again? Absolutely!

I had an issue with a leak on my water main. Philip came out and explained what it would take to repair the leak. He explained that my old gate valve was failing and my pressure on my water system was in excess of the required pressure. After providing me with options and a price to repair my water main, he started the work and had it finished in a short amount of time. He walked me through and all of the work he preformed and made sure I understood how it worked. The work area was cleaner than when he started. I was extremely happy with the professionalism and knowledge Philip provided. Liquid Innovations is now the company I trust to handle all of my plumbing needs.

Franko is very kind and reasonable. He not only fixed our sprinkler system, but installed two baby gates and blinds. When he was out getting the relevant part for the irrigation system, he brought back batteries we needed for my son's toy. He has the best prices out there and is very handy. Will definitely use again.

Very professional service when my new septic system was put in. Responded to my email about a quote really quickly. Boulder county is very strict when it comes to regulations apparently and the inspector told me afterwords that we passed with flying colors. Would use again or recommend any day.

Lamont Pearson of Water Containment Associates showed up at our home on a Sunday evening, diagnosed the problem with our tankless water system and had everything repaired/installed less than 24 hours later. Words that come to mind to describe Mr. Pearson are: honest, reliable, knowledgeable and considerate. He offered a few options, gave his recommendations and ultimately allowed my husband and I to decide what would be best for us. Mr. Pearson deserves your business. He is the real-deal and I will call on him for all future plumbing needs as well as recommend him to anyone in need of plumbing service.

Lance came out to clean our koi pond this spring. I looked for someone for over a week who would come out and do it on short notice and for a good price. Lance was here the day after I contacted him and he did a wonderful job! While he was here the manifold on our water pump broke and he fixed it for us without blinking an eye. He also cut back one of the pine trees near the pond for no additional fee! He even brought some lights and did the work that night so that the pond was clean for our easter BBQ that weekend! I would very highly recommend Lance. He is a hard worker and he gave us an extremely fair price (better than anyone else I talked to!) We will be calling Lance for all of our future pond needs!

The main valve to the sprinkler system was leaking under my house. Marvin arrived quickly the day I called, and fixed it in under an hour. I was very happy about that! I was charged an awful lot for the job, even using their $55 off coupon. It cost far more than I expected for a new valve and labor. My receipt isn't broken down by cost of part and cost of labor, but checking prices for valves, their labor fees are huge.

Showed up on short term notice to provide an estimate, agreed on implementation day, showed up on time, went over job details together again, executed as agreed and on time as estimated. Installed Hot Water circulation pump, Natural Gas line to BBQ and whole house water filtration system. I wish my other contractor experiences would be like this one. I strongly recommend this company.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often do you clean a septic tank?

For homeowners with a septic system, it’s important to have a regular septic cleaning schedule. To protect ground and drinking water, the Environmental Protection Agency recommends residential septic cleaning every three years. Many septic system companies state that you can maintain a healthy system with regular septic cleanings every three to five years. In addition to cleaning, a septic tank inspection once a year will uncover problems and can save you thousands in cleanup and repair.

When waste goes into your septic system, it separates into three parts. The solids (sludge) drop to the bottom, wastewater floats in the middle, and a layer of scum rises to the top. Regularly scheduled cleanings prevent the sludge in your septic tank from building up and clogging your tank, leading to an overflow. Pricing for a standard septic cleaning ranges between $200 and $500, with the national average cost at $315. It’s easier, more cost-effective, and better for your home health to keep your septic tank maintained.

        Who pumps septic tanks?

Septic system professionals pump septic tanks. Pros in different states will have different licensing and certification regulations. Make sure the company you hire is licensed and certified, is a legitimate business, and has the appropriate insurance. Damage to your septic system could cost thousands of dollars in cleanup and repair, so it’s best to hire a qualified professional from the start.

Using an industrial-strength vacuum hose connected to a tanker truck, the septic tank company will pump out the contents of your tank. First they break up the scum of the top layer, then mix the sludge (on the bottom) into the wastewater for removal. To get all the sludge and scum from the tank, pros may use a tool called a septage spoon that loosens stubborn waste from the sides of the tank. After the tank is hosed down and empty, it is inspected for any cracks or leaks that could lead to trouble in the future. The waste in the truck is then transported and disposed of at a waste management treatment center, a cesspool or an approved dumping site.

When should you clean a septic system?

Experts agree that you should clean your septic system every three to five years for optimal system health and safe water. You should also have it inspected every year to catch minor issues before they become major. If you think you may be overdue for a septic cleaning, here are signs that you should call a pro immediately.

        • You’re at capacity: If the bottom of the scum layer is within six inches of the bottom of the tank’s outlet or if the top of the sludge layer is within 12 inches of the outlet, your tank needs to be pumped, according to the EPA.
        • It stinks: If you can smell wastewater, call a pro right away to clean your tank, pipes and field.
        • Sewage backup: Raw sewage backing up into the pipes in your home is no fun. The pros can pump out your pipes, clean your tanks and clear any clogs, but it will be a complex and messy job.
        • Pooling water: Water collecting around your tank or drain field can be a sign you need to clean your septic system.
        • Super grass: If the grass above your septic system drain field suddenly gets vibrantly green and lush, the septic tank leak could be leaking sewage and fertilizing your lawn in unwanted ways. Call a pro to inspect it right away.

How much is it to clean a septic tank?

Nobody wants their septic tank to back up. Regular septic cleaning and pumping is important to keep your ground and drinking water protected from harmful bacteria. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends septic system cleaning every three years. The national average cost for a septic tank specialist is $315. Costs for septic cleaning may vary based on where you live, how large your septic tank is, and how long it has been since the last cleaning. If it’s been many years since you’ve had your tank cleaned, the process of breaking up and removing the solids may take longer and could cost more. Typical residential septic tanks range in size from 1,000 to 2,500 gallons. The price range for septic cleaning usually averages $200-$500, with varying by tank size. Repairs or replacement parts will also add to your cost. To keep your septic tank in good health between cleanings, only flush approved items such as toilet paper, and don’t rely on your garbage disposal for composting. Items that don’t break down easily (like lemon rinds or feminine hygiene products) can back up the septic system, leading to clogs and overflow. If you smell the unmistakable odor of sewage or can see sewage bubbling up above your drain field, call for a septic cleaning immediately.
