How wonderful to both officiate and celebrate at my daughter's wedding without any care as to the photographer they had hired. Bryan was at the right spots at the right time. His challenge of the night was to compensate for a setting sun shining right into the faces of the wedding party. The pictures were very fine in spite of the lighting difficulty. Bryan's pictures were personable as they brought out the personality of his subjects. I would recommend Bryan to be a wedding photographer at any wedding. Plus, he's a nice guy and easy to get along with.

Wedding date5/9/2009 Mike was very professional from the get go. From meeting him for the first time when we were looking for and meeting other photographers. No kidding we talked with about 15 company's my wife was very picky when it came to this part of planning and booking. We meet Mike and he brought a book of pictures he had for display. There were about 50 or so pictures in it, my wife said "do you have any other pictures"? Mike said no problem and bam pictures galore. He treated my wife with respect, and had a great presents with a woman wanting her day to be special. She was so happy with him answering all her questions and being a friend with her. He kept in touch with her and answered and responded to all and I mean all phone calls (about 100) the months leading up to the wedding. The day of the wedding he was AWESOME!! Always at the right place and right time for that perfect picture. Every time my wife was thinking about a pic Mike was there and had a better idea. Mike was a Perfect gentleman, Professional, and now a Friend. Most of all my Wife was more than Happy, and even now we show people pictures of our day and people say how much they love the pictures and who our photographer was. "Mike Cooper" we say proudly!!!

Connie was great!! Kids loved her and everyone was squealing in the show. I'll also note, that one of my kids came down with pink eye on the date we originally planned and Connie was great about rescheduling. I was completely happy with our choice for Connie as entertainment for the birthday party. Kids loved the face painting and the magic show. People asked afterward how we found her. :)

We used Karen for my wedding in 2014 and couldn't have been more pleased. From start to finish she had every detail down! Karen really listened to my vision and when I showed her pictures knew exactly the direction I was headed. She made my wedding day and two years later I still dream of those flowers! We went back to The Garden Path recently for my grandfather's funeral. My mom just trusted that Karen would take of everything. And of course she did! Driving to the church herself to make sure the arrangements were set up properly! We can't say enough good things about The Garden Path. The next life event requiring floral arrangements will take us right back to Karen!

Kevin, You ROCK!! We had so much fun listening to your music the other evening at the birthday party bash. We especially enjoyed when you played oldies by the great artists of the 60's and 70's. The Beatles are my favorite group and you played their songs to a tee....Their "Birthday" song was so appropriate. You're quite the entertainer!! Thanks for a wonderful time. Everyone had a blast because of the joy your music brings. I can tell you really love playing music because you kept the audience wanting more. You're awesome and fun!! We're amazed that you can play so many different music types. Will you please play at my wife's birthday party next month? We would recommend you to anyone. We'll be watching for your public gigs and will try to attend all of them! Your very ADMIRING FANS.....Mike and Genie

Brooks'n'Friends were an amazing part of our wedding reception! We had a wide variety of ages (0-95) and the music was enjoyed by all. They were incredibly friendly, timely, and went above and beyond expectations. I highly recommend them for any party you might be throwing! The songs were timeless classics that everyone sang could sing and dance along to. All my song requests were met beautifully :) The experience was incredible and very special! THANK YOU ALL for the lovely night of music and dancing and laughter!

Michael Lancaster provided guitar music for our wedding ceremony. His style and the music that he played were exactly what we were looking for for our ceremony. He provided us with exactly what we wanted and helped take any stress out of the ceremony music planning part of the wedding. He was readily available for communication prior to our wedding with excellent ideas for us which we greatly appreciated. His guitar playing was beautiful, perfect for our ceremony, and was exactly what we were hoping for.

If you are looking to have beautiful piano entertainment at your wedding or event, I would highly recommend Cathy Paz! She played the piano at our wedding ceremony as the guests arrived and we had so many wonderful comments about her talent. From romantic music, holiday music, traditional or modern, Cathy can play it all! Not only is she a joy to listen to, her personality lights up the room. She is a positive gal to work with and a blessing of musical beauty! 5 stars and beyond for sure! Cathy was an amazing addition our wedding day ceremony.

Nothing short of AMAZING! I was lucky enough to win their photography service through a raffle and was completely taken care of from engagement photos all the way through the wedding. They have great communication; easy to get a hold of, responsive and attentive. So personable! They make you feel comfortable, they're friendly, and tons of fun :) Since you get 2 people, they capture every moment and their turnaround time is more than reasonable. Like I said I was lucky enough to win them, but guaranteed this lovable couple is worth EVERY penny!

Mary was amazing. Her price was unbelievable and the quality of her photography is incredible. Our family and friends can’t believe how good the photographs are. Many are publicly saying that these are the best wedding photographs they’ve ever seen. We posted one on reddit.com/r/wedding and it has been “hot” for days now. It should also be mentioned that Mary hiked up (and down) a 1200’/2.5 mile hike to our wedding location. The photographs were ready surprisingly quickly and on the date she had told us. We would recommend Mary fully and without hesitation for your event.

Chad Wonder presented at my daughter's 8th birthday yesterday. He was fantastic. His show lasted a little over an hour and was entertaining for the children and the adults there! He is great with the children, no matter their questions. My daughter laughed so hard and had the BEST time! There is no doubt that I will be recommending him highly to everyone I meet. I look forward to booking him for future parties!!! Chad Wonder is "wonderful."

Joy and Andy were fantastic! Andy went above any beyond to get me exactly what I wanted for our wedding ceremony music. He even made a couple of videos just for me so I could preview the songs I was considering. They arrived on time and played beautiful music. They really helped make our wedding ceremony a magical experience.

Miss Lyza gave our daughter the best birthday experience tailored just for her by being responsive and knowledgeable about her needs. She did an exceptional job including all children during a princess party by letting each party guest participate as she wished in a karaoke-style sing along with great musical accompaniment. She let the kids be the stars and made sure each child was safe, comfortable, and felt very special. She came early, stayed late, and helped with everything. The girls had a wonderful time, as did we!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

  • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
  • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
  • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How much is it to rent a photo booth for a party?

Renting a party photo booth for your next event will get your guests engaged and provide a take-home favor for attendees. The cost to rent a party photo booth will vary depending on the type of booth, the day and time of year, the length of the rental, and any add-ons you select. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500. Here are some examples of average party photo booth rental costs:

  • Weekday packages: $300-$550, depending on features included and length of rental. A three-hour weekday package for $500 could include guest book, personalized photo strips and DVD of all the photos.
  • Weekend packages: $450-$700, depending on features included and length of rental.
  • Additional hours: $100-$150 per extra hour.
  • Add-on features:
