Working with For them Gainz Fitness has been an amazing experience. Since starting with Berto my fitness, nutrition and physical abilities have dramatically improved. I started personal training to try an improve my explosive abilities and train for basketball and tennis and in less than 2 months I already notice visible improvements. Berto’s unique and challenging training routines push me in a way that has really started to transform my body. I highly recommend training with For Them Gainz Fitness to anybody who is tired of the same old gym routine and is ready to be pushed and improve their athletic lifestyle!

I highly recommend WillPower Fitness. I contacted WillPower Fitness to find a personal trainer, and found credible trainers with comprehensive personal training programs to help me to reach my goals. (exactly as it's advertised) How I see the gym environment: It's a great, welcoming community with music playing, natural light, and trainers coaching members through sets and reps. You can hear encouragement to members on that last rep, telling them they can do it. They have the variety of equipment, activity, and resources you need. The trainers are somehow attentive to the entire gym, keep everyone busy, communicate well, and have the knowledge I wish I had about the body and its needs...from weight-loss to elite athlete programs. How it started for me: I came to my first session with defined fitness goals and a lot of my printouts from previous 'training programs.' That first day we jumped right into a training session, and I assumed it was to evaluate my fitness level. A few days later, I found out that my trainer actually read those grids from past trainers -- I was impressed he cared. He explained the target muscle groups of my previous program versus how the body works and the strength I need to build. When I competed in the past I never felt fit in the right way, and paired with this logical justification, it made sense that my training needed an adjustment. My updated program focuses on finding maximum efficiency and developing the muscles needed to perform intervals over a long period of time. Plus, building strength in the right way to support joints and mobility, which I assume helps me avoid injury. It is definitely worth it.

I've been learning Pilates from Tara for a year now, and without compare she is the best wellness coach I've ever had. As a 55 year-old woman working hard to increase, improve and maintain my health Tara has been a partner who is endlessly competent at employing her experience and intuition with skill and ability to identify and address gaps like muscle weakness with massage and training to immediately relieve pain and suffering while building capability. It's not a miracle, but rather the steady commitment to showing up and seeing the improvement. Pilates is a tool, Tara is the conductor.

First, Ben lives what he teaches in terms of his own attitude, fitness, nutrition, and character. Further, he is exceptional at listening and then coaching people to achieve what they want. He mixes patience and drive with encouragement, exceptional fitness knowledge, an extensive repertoire of mental and physical exercises, a professional approach with a personal touch, a quest for continuous improvement and customer satisfaction, and an uplifting attitude.

I learned so much having her as my health coach! I learned how to respect my body and actually care about continuing my road to a healthier lifestyle. It has been almost a year since the end of our sessions, and I still have the curiosity of how my life can be improved by healthier living that was instilled in me during our sessions. I also have the knowledge and determination to act on that curiosity, and I believe I would not have any of that if not for Drishti Holistic Health. Overall, this was an incredible experience, and I would recommend it to anyone!

Chris Hale is the best trainer I’ve ever worked with. Always in good spirits and focused on the work, he asked lots of questions to assess my goals and built a plan that targeted those goals across weight training, cardio, and diet. He checked in regularly and was always positive and enthusiastic. With Chris, I pushed myself harder than I ever had before, and I saw results I never had before. His approach is thorough, balanced and results-oriented. I learned a lot about muscle groups, diet and cardio from Chris, as well as how my body works and responds to various approaches. His knowledge is broad and he shares it freely. I’d recommend Chris to nearly anyone looking to get into better shape, from competitive bodybuilders to casual athletes looking to trim up for summer. He’s versatile and friendly but stays focused on your goals and improving your overall health and fitness. And on days when I was not in the mood, he always knew how to get a good workout out of me!

Ruthie served me with all the thoughtfulness of a close friend. I felt heard, validated and challenged in all the best ways. There is lots of “sciencey” nutrition hormone stuff that I now understand... But what I most appreciated was the ease I felt in working with Ruthie. The road to healthy fertility and hopes for a baby has been much more sensitive and tender than I realized. I wouldn’t choose anyone else to coach me down this road. She is a gem.

I must admit I was initially skeptical about the idea of couples counseling to begin with- I had a few previous experiences with mediators and counselors that left me feeling misunderstood and like it was a waste of my time. This was definitely NOT the case without Andrew. He was kind, understanding, and was able to cut to the heart of our issues almost immediately and help us to really talk to one another about how we felt. He also gave us homework which was easy to implement and has made a world of difference already- I highly recommend!

Edie is an amazing life coach. She knew exactly what I needed after my free consultation and we hit the ground running right away. Her work, approach, words, and wisdom is extremely effective. I felt so much better about my life in general even after the very first paid session with her. I felt like my life had more purpose, direction, clarity, meaning, and empowerment again. She is extremely good at what she does and I would absoultely recommend her to anyone. She has, by far, been more impactful than any licensed counselor I have paid more money to see for the same mental and career issues. I have been so inspired by her work in my life already that I have even decided to become a life coach myself within the next few years! Go Edie Zelman!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
