My 10 year old daughter enjoys her violin lessons with Ms. Laura very much. Laura Mcdermott has a professional, patient, and friendly rapport with her students. Student recitals reflect how much she cares for and appreciates each of her students' talents. We think she is great with students of all ages and are grateful she is here in Aurora. My daughter is comfortable in Ms. Laura's home.

Before May, I had never picked up a violin. Now, I’ve had a few lessons with Alex, and I am beyond impressed. He is very encouraging and patient with me. I’m an adult trying to learn the basics of playing violin before I head off to college, and I’m glad I chose to take lessons from him. I like his approach of practicing different variations to rhythms and style for certain songs and scales. It’s something I would’ve never though to do on my own, and it has helped me improve while practicing the violin and my music theory. I would recommend him any day to anyone.

Not only is Joe an incredibly talented and inspiring performer, he is also a very engaging and effective teacher. I have 2 kids--a 12 year old daughter who plays violin and viola and a 10 year old son who plays cello. Both kids love fiddle tunes and I asked Joe if he could give them a few fiddle lessons over the summer to supplement their regular strings lessons. He agreed enthusiastically and we scheduled 4 lessons over a 2 week period. The kids loved him from the beginning and I was amazed at what they learned in just 1 lesson. The first thing he did was chat with the kids for a few minutes to find out what kind of music they like, what their musical goals were, and just get to know them a little. The 3 subsequent lessons were every bit as good. He worked with both kids at the same time, an hour each lesson. He helped them with improvisation, bowing technique, arrangement, melody, and chords, among other things. By the end of the 4th lesson, they had learned how to take a simple tune, create a musical intro and arrange the piece, trading off melody with accompaniment (chords, chops, etc.) They performed the arrangement for me and I was blown away with all they had learned. They had nothing but good things to say about their experience with Joe. Unfortunately for us, Joe now lives in Colorado, so we'll have to wait until next summer for more of his amazing teaching. But, his teaching had such an impact on my kids, it will carry them through! Thanks, Joe!

I have enjoyed taking piano lessons from Mike Kraus at Golden Music. I have played off and on for many years, and I'm learning a different set of skills with Mike than I was taught previously

I have been taking Violin lessons with Alexandra for about 3 months now. I can whole-heartedly endorse Alexandra as the best teacher I've had. I'm an adult learner so I appreciate somebody who can explain the "why's" to me, especially the physics of what's happening in the string and bow; e.g. why do you hear over-tones of higher octaves when you have the pitch nailed dead-on (and therefore make sure you do hear them!) She doesn't let me get away with anything sloppy and yet gives me detailed advice for exactly how to correct it (e.g. fix the bottom note of a chord first then listen for the correct interval; feel the fingers of your left hand slide over one another to ensure they're a half-step apart with no gap, and so on). She's also flexible with lesson times and very responsive with text/email communication.

My son runs down the stairs when John comes to our home for violin lessons! He took the extra time to get to know my son and connect with his music therapist as he is special needs 😀

Being an adult beginner to a musical instrument (violin), I am a novice when it comes to reading music and holding the instrument correctly. Nyla was very thorough, patient, and offered a lot of praise during our first lesson. She has a wonderful personality, and is a great teacher. I look forward to taking many more lessons with her!

About

My goal with teaching is to make my students lives brighter. I teach all styles from 3 year old Suzuki students, to adult fiddle students, to very advanced college prep students. I teach the human being first and musician second. I offer students many performance opportunities: recitals, group concerts, group lessons, and help students to get accepted into competitive youth orchestras.

About

I have played the violin for 20 years and am very passionate about music. I have taught many younger students throughout my time as a high school and college student. My preferred method of teaching is the Suzuki Method. Students will use the method of repetition and memorization to polish many pieces of music through a series of 10 progressing books. Not are music lessons fun, but from my experience they also help children to grow in many other ways! I would love to get to know you, as a student with a meet and greet to discuss your goals as a musician prior to your first lesson. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns! Thanks!
