Stephanie and her husband did an amazing job cleaning up my extremely overgrown and leaf-covered gardens/yard. They also removed two small-medium sized trees for us. The yard clean up was a bit expensive but overall, totally worth it!

I hired Hernadez Enterprises to clean up my yard from Autumn. They were able to schedule for the same day, and did a great job. I had asked for my little garden to be cleaned out and the guys accidentally forgot to do it....but when I called to let them know, they sent someone out the next morning and took care of it right away....

Hayden with Down to Earth Landscaping was wonderful to work with. He and his crew did an exceptional job! I am so pleased! He listened to and answered all my questions/concerns/requests. The job entailed flagstone, crusher fines, edging, polymeric sand, sod, and garden areas in the front of my house. I have had many many compliments from people in the neighborhood and those just walking by :) I'll add photos later when I get plants in the gardens.

Jessi responded to the request very promptly; very punctual and professional when we met up to view/discuss the project; quality of work very good -- did what was requested. Pricing of $35/per hour/per person no problem. Value a bit high for what was done. No indication on the invoice as to how many people it took to do the work only stated 9 hours of work at $35.00/hour. I wish I could have been home to view the job being done. Motivated to upkeep the garden areas cleaned after paying for this project. Will use them in the future to get guidance on some areas that need plantings.

Sparrow Grow has been enhancing and maintaining my gardens all summer long. They've never looked better! Nancy's team always does a great job weeding and fine-tuning the flower beds. Whenever there's a bare spot, Nancy makes recommendations for adding perennials that perfectly suit my style. The work is always done quickly. Her prices are reasonable and her team does an A+ job throughout the seasons! (They also just trimmed one of our trees for a reasonable rate and the results are stunning.) I'll be hiring Sparrow Grow for all my gardening needs!

Dylan and Stephanie are just great people. They are trustworthy, knowledgeable, and experienced with plants. I've known them for a few years now and I have hired them on some of our bigger projects to oversee and implement proper care for the entire plant design and installation. I would recommend them especially for gardening, plant and vegetable consultation, and proper plant care. So many folks out there just slap plants and trees in the ground without really thinking about soil content, light, etc. Stephanie and Dylan, both of whom have worked several years for a reputable plant nursery here in Denver, have extensive knowledge of their craft and are dedicated to doing things correctly. Dorothy and her staff completed some fall cleanup work in my lawn and garden. The job took less than half a day. Dorothy asked questions to understand the scope of what I wanted done, and offered helpful suggestions for spring planning. Her follow up communications were very timely.

Dana revamped the landscaping/plants around my house. I recently moved in and had no idea how to care for the plants. She knows a lot about anything related to gardens/landscaping/plants. Everything looked great when she was done. I would hire her again!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
