My teaching philosophy consists of an individual approach with each student. Each singer has different vocal problems and those needs are directly addressed. This studio gives private instruction for singing with, above all else, the principals of a healthy voice and sound. Private Voice Lessons or Private Singing Lessons are on a one-on-one basis within an hour or half-hour lesson; with half vocal technique instruction and half repertoire selection. Coaching with piano accompaniment is available at no additional cost and woven into the lesson. Half-hour singing lessons are recommended to start. New students work mainly within a half-hour lesson. For medium 45" lessons and advanced students: 30" technique/30"repertoire within one hour voice lessons are recommended. Working directly with my clients to achieve their goals. People as like flavors of ice cream, each one is unique. My background includes both national and international performing credits as well as teaching experience. In addition to technical vocal instruction, I offer vocal repertoire coaching and audition tips to singers. Many of my current students are reaching their professional goals by showing up prepared for their auditions. _____________________________________________________________________ UPCOMING EVENTS: Celebration of American Musical Theatre from the 70's May 5th, 2016 (Friday)@ 7:30pm St. Luke's Episcopal 2000 Stover Street Fort Collins, CO 80525 Reception to follow~ in the Narnex American Musical Theatre from the 60's March 10th, 2016 (Friday)@ 7:30pm St. Luke's Episcopal 2000 Stover Street Fort Collins, CO 80525 Small reception to follow~ Celebration of American Musical Theatre 20's & 30's August 26th, 2016 (Friday)@ 7:30pm St. Luke's Episcopal 2000 Stover Street Fort Collins, CO 80525 MAY New Beginnings Concert: Farewell to current location concert Wednesday May 25th, 2016@7:30pm Reception to follow~ Old location: 900 E. All of us have different gifts and abilities, and I enjoy bringing out the best in each person. One of my gifts as a voice teacher is being able to hear a voice and quickly analyze things that are preventing it from being its best, then coming up with old and new ways to address any "issues" to help each singer shine! I love working with all ages and all levels, helping beginners lay a solid foundation, and helping more advanced students fine-tune their vocal and performance technique and provide repertoire suggestions. It's exciting to hear voices grow & change and watch the smiles that go with it.

You will gain tangible tools to help polish your event and/or personal skills in a creative and inspiring atmosphere. When someone trusts me enough to invite me in to their creative process, I feel a lot like a midwife. It is a great honor to help someone birth a big project, lifelong dream or even a new part of themselves that they have always wanted to nurture but never found the time or heart.

My work stands out from others because of the individual attention given to each student. Students come from different backgrounds and learn in different ways. I try to take this into consideration when working with each student and find solutions in the studio that work on a personal level. My favorite thing about my job is watching my students grow as musicians and as individuals. Music has the power to transform us and I love being a part of that process.

I teach private piano lessons to students of all levels, ages five through adult. I use a variety of musical activities with the younger student to help them feel the music in their bodies and to develop their ear for melody, beat and rhythm. For the adolescent and adult student, we strive to find music that they are passionate about playing. 30 minute piano lessons are $23 and 45 minute lessons are $34. Recitals are not required for my students. I hold piano classes at my home three times a year. One recital is held each year at a local retirement center. These are both optional. Private voice lessons are for students ages 10 and up. We start each lesson with some vocal warmups and then move on to pieces that the student has helped select. Performances are held three times a year at a local nursing home. These are optional. For those who are more comfortable singing with a small group than solo, we sing some group songs as well as solos at the nursing home. 30 minute voice lessons are $25 and 45 minute lessons are $37.

Hi! My name is Amy Freeman, and I would love to meet you at your free first lesson! I have been teaching vocal music, both privately and in public middle and high school, for nearly a decade. I have a degree in K-12 vocal music education, a myriad of instructional and performance experiences, and a current teaching license. However, what I feel that sets me apart most is my first priority: to provide a comfortable, safe environment where individuals are empowered to express themselves and grow in their confidence through the strengthening of their unique voices. The name for my studio stems from this mission. I believe all students have immense potential that I want to help them recognize and develop, so that they can be an inspiration to others, through music and beyond. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Hi! Did you know you're walking around with an amazing internal instrument . . . your voice? My job and JOY is to help you use that instrument better, regardless of age or background. You'll be amazed how much wonderful music is waiting for you, and I'd love to introduce you!

What do you love about your job?

Working with singers of all ages and abilities is both interesting and challenging. I love it! I love hearing voices grow and change and watching them bring the characters of their songs to life. I've had so many wonderful musical opportunities, working with some great international musicians. I appreciate the opportunity to share what I've learned with singers of all ages.

Who or what inspired you to start your business?

I've always wanted to teach singing from or near my home. I have an entrepreneurial spirit, and prefer the private voice studio to a larger corporate or scholastic environment.

  • Singing Instructor

    Big Bite Studio

Rachel Alena began her voice-over career in Los Angeles when she was in her early 20's. At the age of 15, she recorded her first work-for-hire job as a session singer for a children's album. Being a session singer in L.A. for songwriters meant she spent a lot of time in the studio behind the microphone. At one of her sessions, the engineer asked if she could speak as well as she could sing. She said she'd give it a try. He handed her a script and she did her first narrative recording. Rachel loved it and thus began a career of voice work! Rachel is a graduate, with a degree in voice and minor in keyboards, from the Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles. She also studied voice acting with a private coach in Dallas, Texas. Rachel Alena has been a voice talent, on-camera talent and vocalist for over 20 years. She has voiced commercials, tutorials and narratives for clients such as T-Mobile, Procter and Gamble, Harvard University, and DuPont, to name a few. She was also the regular female voice for the Daytona Online News Journal. She currently does voice acting coaching from her Big Bite Studio and runs workshops as well. Rachel is the lead singer and writer for the popular Boulder based band, Rachel and the Ruckus. She is also a for hire songwriter, most recently writing songs for the children's Dino Buddies animation series.
