- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When hiring a counselor make sure they have an appropriate graduate degree like - MS in counsleing or Ph.D. in a counseling field from a nationally recognized university. You may also want to hire someone who is licensed by the state regulatory agency. In Colorado licensed professional counselors use LPC after their name. You will want to be sure the provider works with the issues you are dealing with. Some counselors only work with children or adults and some only work with couples. Always be sure you ask if the porvider accepts your insurance or if they are 'cash only'. You can also ask if they offer a sliding scale for fees.
