They have a lot of experience teaching guitar lessons to people with all levels of musical ability. I really enjoyed working with them.
Barb's Continuo Home Music Lessons provided home lessons to my son. Not only was the instructor very talented, but they knew exactly how to interact with a young person to keep his interest throughout the lesson and encouraged practicing beyond the lesson. Barb is always prompt and goes out of her way to accomodate scheduling issues.
I've been taking guitar lessons here for about 8 years and they do it best here!
I have had the honor of taking guitar lessons with Larry Meyer for about 3 years. Larry introduced me to the world of JAZZ and the concept of musical freedom through improvisation. Larry has truly inspired me to be a musician, and to think beyond my original guitar mind set. If you ask him a question, you will get an answer backed by a lifetime of musical exploration and experience, not to mention the serious undeniable pure talent. It is impossible to get a lesson from Larry and not be infected by his excitement of the music and the joy of revealing that infinite world to an aspiring player. I thank you Larry for your friendship and patience as you helped direct me through each musical stepping stone.
Chris is a great music teacher and his rates are affordable. My nine year old really likes him and looks forward to the lessons.
I've been taking piano lessons from Frank for almost two years. He is a great teacher, very patient, and positive. I always look forward to my lessons and enjoy them very much. I highly recommend him!
Ryan shows up ready to dig into drum lessons with my son and is always so positive. In the short time he is working with my son, he has made tremendous progress!
Chris can teach both drums (drum kit) and various percussion instruments (tympani, tuned percussion, etc.). I am taking lessons from Chris mainly to learn basic rock drumming on a standard drum kit. He is a wonderful teacher. He'll give you valuable lessons not only on playing the drum kit, but also on good drumming fundamentals, such as proper stick grip, how to position your hands on the stick, and stick control, speed and independence. He will also instruct you in good habits and tips for practicing the drums between lessons. I very highly recommend Chris as a drum and percussion teacher.
Great place, great music teachers, my son (6) goes there twice a week, 1 for Keboards, 1 for Drum lessons.
Ron is an outstanding musician and teacher. He can teach a variety of instruments and voice. He lives and breathes music. On top of that, he is a real people's person. He has been working with a daughter since September. It is a real pleasure.
Anders was a lot of fun and you could absolutely tell he knows his stuff. He is so passionate about drumming and really put effort and lots of patience into my lessons. I would highly recommend his services, what a nice guy!
Mr. Blackwell is an awesome teacher, and very gifted. My daughter looks forward to her weekly lessons. In a short few months of lessons you can hear the difference (control) in her voice. You will not be disappointed in the services of Blackwell's School of Music and Film.
His is an outstanding drummer and he taught me so much I am so glad to be able to get in touch with him.
Jason Martin is a thoughtful dedicated musician who has a great teaching style. He is always prepared, professional and patient. His drive to better himself while pushing others is what is truly special about Mr.Martin. He has been playing for over 20 years and it shows. He is comfortable teaching Metallica as well as Scruggs. He has an amazing selection of instruments so you can try different tunings or stringed instruments. He has you work on pieces of your interest right away, which keeps you engaged. I do not think you could find a better teacher anywhere.

I am a professional drummer. I've toured around the world and have learned from drummers like Carmine Appice, Chris Coleman, Thomas Lang, Zoro and many others. I currently play with two groups (Whyte Planes and January Jane) which take up most of my time, but I enjoy teaching and educating aspiring drummers.
Being both a gigging drummer and a teacher, I have seen how improving one can benefit the other. I work hard towards bettering my craft, and doing this in tandem with teaching helps me solidify my playing and concepts, while invigorating my spirit and love for playing this instrument through being able to articulately explain what I have learned through my experiences. I can assist in helping with technique, rudiments and grips, with a variety of drumming styles, such as funk and rock, and also jazz and Latin drumming. I teach all ages. My goal is to help others discover a love for the instrument, gain a respect for the learning process and find their unique way to express themselves on the kit.
We have been deeply routed in music education for over thirty years. We are all professional musicians and certified educators.
Tom Dest has been teaching music consecutively for 27 years to private individuals and groups. This includes lessons to beginners, intermediate and advanced students on drumset, vibraphone and marimba. Tom also teaches hand drums, music composition, music theory and recording engineering. Some places Tom where has given lessons are Trinity College, Hartford Academy of the Performing Arts, various public school percussion programs, Dynamic Percussion, Creative Music, and presently, at Varela Music. The cost for lessons is $22.00 per half hour. Why are lessons with Tom so inexpensive while most other teachers and studios are charging more but have less experience? With our present economy, most prices for every thing are on the rise. Tom simply does not want to follow suit; thats all. Thanks, Tom P.S. I do not accept any kind of pre-payment via mail or electronic transfer for lessons.
The Al Miller Drum School has been in existence for over 5 decades. It is an easy program to follow and has provided it's students with the tools needed to understand rhythm and technique. The system is based on Al's proven instructional method begun in 1951. Many of today's most well-known drummers have studied the Miller drum system, including Billy Cobham, Greg Bissenette and Rod Morgenstein, to name just a few. Even the great Buddy Rich recognized the value of his system and asked my father to teach him to read music. Since my father's passing in 2000, I've been expanding his method and personalizing it for the modern drummer.
I teach music to potential and current drum students and perform live jazz, jazz fusion, and other genres.
