Introduction: We work as a complementary team, vocal training and piano accompanying. Ours is a cooperative approach to help our students develop. Howard is almost always on hand to assist at the piano, expertly providing customized accompaniments. Our work is a joint venture. Christina Rovics is a vocal instructor and Howard a pianist. Live, on the spot accompanying is a great asset since a pianist can synchronize with a singer moment to moment whereas a prerecorded track is inflexible, however beautiful the sound. We love to work together as musicians and teachers.

Christina and Howard have had a huge impact on my daughter's music development, I really can't believe how fortunate we've been to work with two such dedicated, experienced, and enthusiastic musicians. My daughter studied both piano and voice. In Voice, she had the opportunity to do live performances in formal venues, including duets, working with live classical accompaniment by Howard, in both the Pop Radio Hits and Broadway music that first attracted her to singing all the way to singing arias in Italian and French before she was 12! And she loved it! I loved it because Christina really brings out the best in each student in such an enthusiastic and encouraging way. And Howard worked with my daughter first as a piano student, from very young and very beginner, to playing sonatinas. I know that she carries this with her for a lifetime of enjoyment ,including the music theory that she learned, and the patient, professional, passionate and peaceful approach that she learned with has affected the way she approaches many things in her life. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to have worked with the Rovics' studio and had access to such talented teachers in my area.

I have been taking lessons with Christina for over a year now and I can't believe the difference in not only my voice, but my confidence! Because of my training, I have been cast in such roles as the Stepmother in "Into the Woods", Madame Thernadier in "Les Miserables", Woman in "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" and Mayor Matilda Hyde in "All Shook Up" to name a few. My daughter has also been taking lessons and as a result was cast as Twin 1 in "Peter Pan" at a 1700 seat theatre! I never knew how to use the different parts of my voice. Christina helped the different parts of my voice come together as one instrument and helped me create the sound that is uniquely mine. I can't thank her enough!

I am a retired IT professional who always wanted to learn to sing. I tried a few singing coaches but never felt I was really learning much or that my voice was progressing further. When I found Christina's Vocal Studio, I felt that I would learn so much more after the first lesson. Now over five years later, Christina has helped me to find my voice and given me the confidence to overcome self-doubt while hitting those high notes that sometimes plague you. Her experience and knowledge of what you can and cannot do guides you into gaining the confidence to sing well and with joy. Your lessons take place in their home studio and you are recorded each time and receive a CD with that days lesson on it, so you can review it at home. This is a great aid to self improvement and preparation for your next lesson. A professional recording studio is also available when you are ready. I have sung at many of Christina's concerts and watched the progression of her other students, many of them younger children, teenagers and other adults. Some adults were prior professional singers as well. If you are truly interested in learning to sing, I highly recommend The Christina Rovics Vocal Studio.

My daughter has studied voice with Christina for the past 5 years and has loved every minute of it. Christina and Howard are caring and gifted teachers with genuine enthusiasm for their students and their craft. My daughter has developed into a strong, confident singer and performer, with an appreciation for a variety of musical genres. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our rates can be found on our website at Singing Lessons - Policy, Rates & Calendar. It specifies the cost of introductory lesson, the discounted monthly rates for weekly lessons, and the pay-by-the-lesson rates. The 45 minute introductory session is $75. Ongoing weekly lessons are about $40 per 30 minutes.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
We are both lifelong musicians. Christina's earliest vocal training began in parochial school singing Gregorian chant in Latin, reading ancient notation. Howard's piano training began at the age of 8 culminating in a Masters degree from the Manhattan School of Music in his early twenties. A life in music was not a decision. It was calling.

We help people who want to perform prepare for auditions. We also help singers who are in a show learn their material and develop their style and interpretation.
