This was probably the most unprofessional experience that I have had on Thumbtack.
Here are the details of my encounter with this company:
We began talking through TT and finally settled on a day.
First red flag was that she didn't read all the details of the project and quoted me for only part of what I asked for, and told me that she needed to see the property before quoting me( even though I uploaded pics). However fine no problem.
The day came and I received a call from an unknown number while driving back from taking my fiance to the hospital. I didn't answer and responded for the person to text me. I got a text back stating " I am omw there. How would you pay?"
Of course I don't know who the heck this is as I have multiple projects going on and there was no reference of the company name or details of the project.
I asked "who is this?"
The person responded that "I hired them to remove my junk". To which I asked for the name of the company. Once I heard the name of the company, I recognized the project and told the person ok and confirmed the address of the property.
The person then responded with " Please don't waste my time".
By this time there were numerous red flags, however I wanted to have the stuff picked up so I continued with the conversation.
The person then proceeded to ask me to pay upfront to prove that I wasn't a scam! This was probably the biggest red flag of all. I told her that I will pay half upfront at the beginning of the job and half at completion.
I was then asked for my email to send the invoice to, to which I provided. Then the person told me that my email was fake?! By now, I am wondering if this company was actually trying to scam me! After confirming that my email worked and that I won't be able to check it for the next 15mins, I got a phone call telling me that I should find someone else for the job.
Stay away from this company as this is either a scam or the owner has no idea how to treat customers.
Details: Large items to haul • Yard waste, construction debris or scrap metal • Enough to fill one pickup truck • There are no flights of stairs

Hi This customer. Did not want to speak over the phone while driving but rather me text him. That was a red flag for me. He didn't remember we had an appointment. So I ask to pay half up front in which he stated that he is driving. It was just strange to me he prefer texting while driving and not to speak on the phone. Be careful with scammers out there.
