I believe in honesty and integrity. I believe in giving 100%.
I perform a variety of musical styles on trumpet, inclusive of jazz, rock, classical, etc. Also, I am a teacher of jazz and trumpet to students of all ages. Students have made district and all-state bands across New England. I am a former touring band musician with Bella's Bartok (2014 to 2015) and Against All Odds Live (Phil Collins Tribute Band, 2013 to 2014).
Our son has taken piano lessons with Alex for several years and the experience has been wonderful. Alex is a talented musician and teacher. Our son enjoys his weekly lessons and we both look forward to seeing Alex each week. He is a very nice person and is very patient with his students.
I have participated in all aspects of performing and teaching music, along with producing some very prominent players as well as a college trumpet professor!!
My son is thoroughly enjoying the lessons and we have noticed growth already!
As a music teacher, I bring skills to children and adults that are difficult to find outside of the fine arts. With music, we work on brain duality (using both sides of the brain at once), practice technique (working over and over on a topic), self-discipline and more.

Ivan Hunter started his musical career at the age of 7, singing in the Friendly Road Choir which presented weekly radio broadcasts and regular concerts. He started on the cornet and quickly progressed to be cornet soloist in the National Youth Brass Band, and later principal trumpet in the National Youth Orchestra. He was appointed to the National Band of New Zealand in 1967 under K G L Smith, and then as a solo cornet in the World Champion National Band in 1970 under Elgar Clayton. This band also played under Harry Mortimer in England. Ivans early teachers included W Les Francis and Lloyd Thorne. At Auckland University he studied composition and conducting with Dr Douglas Mews and Dr Charles Nalden, and was a member of the University of Auckland singers. After his studies he was appointed principal trumpet of the Symphonia of Auckland, and continued on a playing career as a first call session player, as well as soloist on tour with the Novosobirsk Ballet and Ballet Victoria. He pioneered the use of the C and Piccolo trumpets in Auckland, having taken lessons with James Darling of the Cleveland Orchestra. Under the direction of Irving Rosenthal, he formed the Auckland Brass Quintet; also, together with a pianist/bassoonist, formed a Dixieland band. He taught at the New Zealand School of Music; one of his students replacing him in the orchestra when Ivan relocated to Sydney, Australia. Other teaching positions in Auckland included posts at St Kentigerns and St Cuthberts schools. In Australia, he was brass instructor at St Vincents College, Ravenswood School, Sydney Girls Grammar and Woodwind and Brass School of Music. While in Australia he was principal trumpet in Theyre Playing our Song and Evita and was also very busy in Salsa and Jazz. During a brief period in England he wrote music for and played in the rock band Plastic Fantastic. In the USA Ivan has held teaching positions at the Kent School, Dutchess Day School and the Gunnery School, as well as teaching privately from his home studio. He is currently a member of the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra and the Danbury Brass Band.
