We own and manage roughly 70 tenants. Mix of commercial and residential. Rome started off with a small pint job and did such an excellent job he has been doing all sorts of work for our company now. Not only does Romeprovide quality work at reasonable rates, he is always on time and is a pleasure to work with. Rome has now done wall painting, Sheetrocked a garage, installed flooring, and is now painting kitchen cabinets for us. Highly reccomend Rome!

Complete bathroom renovation. Demolition, removal, new walls, all new fixtures and tub plumbing, custom built-in cabinetry, and porcelain tile floors. Glenn and partner measured meticulously and finished everything when they said they would without damaging stair and hallway. Couldn't have asked for more for this cramped upstairs renovation in our older home.

I am very pleased with the work Anthony performed on my kitchen. My cabinets were painted and new backsplash installed. My kitchen looks beautiful! Anthony was professional and tidy. He also takes great pride in his work. I will certainly recommend Anthony to friends looking to hire someone for painting or kitchen renovations. I will be contacting him to paint a few rooms in my house very soon.

Fabian did a great job. He responded very quickly to my questions and was readily available to answer questions. I needed to replace old outlets as well as install new outlets, dimmers and switches for the kitchen and bathroom before rhe Some of the boxes were old and needed to be moved or replaced for the install of new cabinets. He seamlessly made the changes and advised on how the outlets would appear once the backsplash was in. He had cost effective fixes to problems with the old boxes which i had chosen not to replace completely. He was also able to fix some recessed lights that had been sloppily installed by a previous contractor. He was knowledgeable and understood his trade as well as being honest about what i needed to do to have my outlets upgraded. I will be asking him back to complete the electric install of the appliances once the cabinets are in as well.

We had chosen Marco based on his excellent reviews, but unfortunately we didn't have the same experience as most people. We hired Marco to replace flooring tile in our kitchen, foyer, powder room and laundry room. With the exception of one day where he had to cancel, he did arrive between 8am and 8:30am with a partner and they got to work right away. They were quiet and respectful, but the language barrier was an issue at times. Prior to starting the job, we had mentioned to Marco that although we weren't concerned about the walls since they were being painted, we did request that he be careful around the doors and wood trim which had been painted recently. After he was done, we saw mastic and grout on not just the doors and trim, but also the base of our kitchen cabinets. He wiped off a lot of it, but I continue to find it as I'm cleaning. I do wish he had been neater perhaps taping up a plastic or paper to protect the base of the doors and cabinets. We had also pointed out many areas where there was hazing on the tiles left from the grout not being cleaned off immediately. He tried to remove some of the haze on his last day, but it had been too late to wipe it off without using a haze remover. I wasn't planning on writing a review since his price was reasonable and the items I've mentioned can be cleaned up. However, a few weeks into the job and the grout is now coming out of the joints in pieces. I've attached photos of where I was using a lightweight stick vacuum to clean the kitchen floor and the grout just got sucked right up. When I went to investigate, the grout just crumbles into powder when you pick it up. I'm not a tile expert, but it seems like perhaps the grout that he used in this area was too dry? I'm pretty frustrated at this point because I keep finding little areas here and there where the grout has just disintegrated. I know there were areas where they had not fully scraped out the mastic between the joints and just laid grout on top (which I know isn't proper), so they went back and scraped out some of these areas and regrouted, but even then, this should not be happening. It's been exactly 3 weeks since he finished the job and the grout should not be coming up like this so easily; it's like powder. The cracked grout is throughout the floor. I can't even say it's concentrated to one area, so I don't know what happened, but it's very disappointing.

Very quick response time. Came out for an estimate the next day and started work within two weeks. Seemed very knowledgable and were able to help us decide what type of repairs we needed. They kept the work area very clean, protected all of the flooring from damage and picked up before leaving each day. Great attention to detail and quality work! They were flexible when things came up during the project that needed to be addressed like a bathroom floor we hadn't intended to replace but decided when everything else looked so nice that we wanted that done too and they accommodated our request with no problem and were able to make everything look great. Our project consisted of mostly cosmetic work, but also included a newly framed interior door, new molding, patchwork, painting, new flooring install and bathroom tiling. We were very happy and will use them again for other projects.

Carlos laid the new floor tile for our bathroom remodeling project. He understood the entire project - beyond just the tiling. He went the extra mile to provide his input on underlayment options and to undercut the door trim. He did a great job of matching the elevation of the hallway hardwood, which eliminated the need for a transom. I would hire him again.

JCEC contractors (http://www.jcecpainting.com/about.html) and painting company do more than just paint a room they actually transform a room. My wife has been watching all of the DIY shows on television and came up with an idea on changes she wanted to make to the kitchen. From her idea to completion, the transformation was amazing. We did not have to contract out to many different sub-contractors the team at JCEC did it all including electrical, tile work, woodwork and yes painting. I would strongly recommend them to anyone who is looking for someone who can do it all and at a good price.

Amazing experience using H&F. Facundo responded to my quote right away to do our backsplash and tile floor in kitchen. Great pricing, especially for the high quality work! He gave some great reccomendations on what products to use, he made himself available the next day and was right on time 7:30 AM. He worked diligently throughout the entire day, you can tell he was very meticulous and showed pride in his work. Cam back the net morning to finish-up. He was very clean and made sure to cover our table, etc with plastic and vacuumed to make sure dust did not speak. Overall couldn't be happier with the service!

I hired We Show Up Construction llc for a kitchen renovation. Prior to that, I had already purchased my cabinets from Ikea. Rich and his crew handled the demolition of my old kitchen, the assembling of the cabinets, installed new flooring, hung the cabinets, and added a backsplash. Throughout this whole process there were some hiccups along the way. However, there was no problem that came up that Rich and his crew did not have a solution for. Overall, I am very happy with my new kitchen and I would hire We Show Up Construction for future home projects.

I spoke with Hans through the Thimbtack app on a Friday. He came out to view the work on the next day (Saturday) and then had three of his workers in my home on Monday to complete the work. I was very impressed with him. He came to follow up on his workers and give them direction. They left my house spotless and installed a kitchen backsplash and fixed a damaged dry wall in my living room. His prices are reasonable as well. I would definitely hire him again and would recommend him to anyone.

Sandro has done 5 projects for me now with various tile/material - couple walls, a backsplash, a floor and a custom request. I'm planning several more as well. Great price, very friendly, takes pride in his work and goes well out of his way to do what's needed for the job. Perhaps most importantly however, he always leaves me with a completed job I'm extremely proud to have in my home.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to get tiling done?

You can install tiling on your floors, walls, counters, kitchen backsplash, outdoor patio and shower — to name a few places. Tile is beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and resilient against kids and pets. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Often, tile installation specialists quote a price per square foot for installation. Costs can increase if you want the pro to supply the tile instead of ordering it yourself. Other factors that can increase cost include specialized installation with a unique design that will require more labor to install.

Prep work will also affect tile installation costs. Demolition of the existing floor, counter or backsplash takes time and energy that will be reflected in the price. Necessary repairs, such as a sub-floor that needs bolstering before tile flooring can be installed, will also increase costs. For tile showers, one example of tile installation cost may be approximately $25 per square foot including all materials and labor. Average tile installation costs for backsplashes may run anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the materials selected and the amount of labor required. The larger the area where tile is being installed, the lower the price per square foot will likely be. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for wood-look tile installation in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
