Barbara is an excellent music instructor. I have had 3 sessions so far and feel like I have learned so much from her. I can't wait to see how much more I will improve in the next 3 sessions. I'm glad I signed up for singing lessons at the Alexander Music Studio!

I was a bit apprehensive about signing my 4 year old daughter up for vocal lessons because of her age. I went to a few people to see what they could offer and to hear my daughters voice. I was not impressed. Then I called Billy and he invited me over with my daughter to meet him. It was a fabulous first impression which was 8 months ago! My daughter Myrissa, now 5, has blossomed in both her appreciation for song as well as her voice! My husband and I are truly impressed and very appreciative of just how heat Billy is with our daughter. We highly recommended New Haven Academy of Performing Arts!! We would also advise to start as young as they are interested because she has truly become a beautiful little singer and we can't wait for what's to come!

Barb's Continuo Home Music Lessons provided home lessons to my son. Not only was the instructor very talented, but they knew exactly how to interact with a young person to keep his interest throughout the lesson and encouraged practicing beyond the lesson. Barb is always prompt and goes out of her way to accomodate scheduling issues.

Maria is the most thorough, pleasant, and knowledgeable private music teacher I've ever taken lessons from. I leave each piano lesson with a more comprehensive understanding of notes, of rhythms, of musicality, but most importantly, of myself.

My daughter has been taking violin lessons with David since she was 9 years old; and more recently, she has started classical, acoustic guitar lessons the summer before entering college. He is a dedicated professional and diligent in making sure his students learn correct technique and become more musical in their own personal way. More importantly, David has the ability to keep his lessons fun and varied! Her lessons have always been highlights of my daughter's week! I recommend David without hesitation.

Al Marino gives guitar lessons to my 15-year-old daughter. We have been working with him for about a year and a half; he has proven to be reliable, engaging, knowledgeable and fun to work with. He has brought my daughter to the next level in her guitar playing; he uses a mixture of theory and technique, and it all works. He is very professional, motivating, and inspiring to my daughter. We just love him.

Since starting lessons with Corey, my playing has improved tremendously! I like the fact that I have a say in what we play; practicing a piece that I want to learn, doesn't even feel like practice, it's fun. Corey is very personable and funny but at the same time, very professional. I look forward to lessons during the week and all in all, Corey is an amazing teacher!

I have taken lessons with Allison McNeal for about four years. We've gone through Suzuki books 4 to 7, as well as expanding into other violin literature. I never thought I'd be able to play this well! Thank you Allison!

What I love the most about Johannes is the fact that he treats his beginner-intermediate students just like his music major students or those who are preparing to audition for conservatories or precolleges. I've studied with him for about 3 years so far. I had learned the violin for a couple of years before him but had no basic technique secured and struggled a lot with tone production and overall playing quality. He put equal amount of focus on basic posture and technique with me as he does with his more serious music major students. He's obviously slower-paced with repertoire than other violin teachers who make students play a lot of pieces very poorly in a short amount of time. But each piece and etude I work on with him sounds like what I have never imagined myself would be able to sound like before. Now I know where the bow should be placed with what arm positions and muscle movements for the best quality tone production, and how the left hand should be framed and driven for secure intonation and flexibility, all thanks to Johannes. As long as you practice just the way he asks you to (which often requires you to be incredibly slow and patient), he'd never ever give up on you and never let you play poorly for years with no noticeable improvement! At first I felt as though I wasn't learning much, because he didn't give me a lot of fun pieces I really wanted to play. But 6 months to a year later, I sounded completely different and was able to play some pieces with much better tone and volume. As long as he's in New York, I'll keep studying with him.

I've been taking violin and musicianship lessons with Jack . I can say he is a very responsible person who will help you to improve from different aspects. Under the instruction of him, I gained a lot of musicianship skills in advance before I went to study music in college. That helps me to integrate into intensive music classes in college. He's not only my teacher, he's more like a friend of mine. He gives many suggestions to you, helping you to solve problems. Taking lessons with him is very valuable to me.

I've been taking violin and voice from Sarah for over a year now, and I have seen vast improvements! I love visiting her studio on the UWS, it's a beautiful space to learn. Sarah's ongoing experience as a professional opera singer and musician always informs our lessons. It's very inspiring! I highly recommend studying with Sarah!

Because I have studied at the most prestigious music academies and schools. I have a lot of experience in teaching and I know how to be a creative and productive teacher. I also trust my PR skills a great deal!

      About

My experience in a variety of styles leaves me open to the many options available to violinists beyond the classical world. While I stress a solid foundation in classical technique, I encourage students to follow their own path, whether it be jazz, rock, fiddling, or something else. I also have experience with the electric violin, which can be of some aid in pursuing alternative styles.
