My experience thus far has been great. My bedroom and bathrooms came out exactly how I dreamed they would. I will continue working with Larene.

It was such a pleasure to work with Laurene. She has a keen eye for detail and color and an exceptionally pleasant way about her. She has original ideas and my house is looking wonderful utilizing her suggestions! I would highly recommend working with Eclectic Design!

About this pro

I enjoy the challenge of reusing and repurposing furnishings and accessories the client already owns. Among my trademarks are using texture, layering and using mirrors and glass to create warm and interesting interiors. Texture provides subtle interest without using bold patterns; it's a more subtle and many times more sophisticated. Layering suggests that a room was put together over time providing warmth. Mirrors and glass are the jewelry in a room that allow light to bounce around a room and visually open a room up. I truly enjoy learning about my clients and finding out what my clients like in design so that the final project is truly reflective of them. In teaching my class, Decorating Made Simple, I tie the decision-making process for purchasing clothing to decorating the home. "What color is your favorite blouse, jacket or tie?" is one question I ask. Another is "Are there any items you love but are keeping in your attic, closet or basement?" I can often find a use for them.

    Q & A

    • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Based on project scope and client need.
    • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I take courses and read professional resources to stay up on trends. I also teach a course, Decorating Made Simple. The course comprises four classes, two-hours each class over a four-week stretch. It covers color and how to choose what works best for you, furniture and accessory arranging, lighting and bringing the outside in.
    • How did you get started doing this type of work?
My parents built spec homes when I was growing up. I was always around swatches and samples, contractors, blue prints, etc. I loved the process of seeing something being built from the ground up. I also enjoyed seeing how the same furnishings and accessories were used in each unique house, traditional and contemporary in design.
