I had Andrew as an instructor while at Augustana College for my 2nd guitar class. I am a beginner guitar player and he was able to teach me in a way that I was able to understand and work toward improving myself. He helped me understand how keep a tempo, fingering technique, posture, and he geared his instructions based on what I wanted to play. I am still able to message him for remote help when in need. Thanks Andrew!

Alex has taught my son classical guitar for the past 7 years. With Alex's expert instruction, his remarkable ability to maintain and channel enthusiasm, and his gentle prodding, my son has gone from the very basics to advanced concert repertoire, and has had a great time doing so. Bravo, Alex!

Jeff is a focused and professional teacher. After only our first meeting, I had a clear understanding of the path I would be taking toward my goal of guitar proficiency. I was impressed by the many stringed instruments surrounding me and even more impressed by the videos of Jeff playing them on his website. Even at this early stage of my musical journey, I would not hesitate to recommend Jeff as a music teacher.

I have been taking guitar lessons from Pat for about four years now, and couldn't be more satisfied with the teaching that I received. Pat teaches in a fun and straightforward manner so that you are always engaged in the lesson and always learning with a guitar in hand. His lessons are built around learning songs that you want to learn, and accurately teaching them. He is the guitar teacher I would recommend for learning the instrument.

Sherstudios is a one stop shop for either the budding musician to the gigging professional. It is owned and operated by Jamie Sherwood who is the consummate professional in both music instruction and production/recording. I have been taking lessons (guitar/bass) with Jamie since high school and I can attest that he is the real deal and gives his all to every student and client at any skill level, beginner to professional. Be it jazz, classical finger style, rock, blues, etc... Mr. Sherwood is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist that will help you to transcend into the musical plane and have you sounding like a pro in no time (as long as you put in the effort too)!!! If you're looking to embark on a musical journey there is no better place to start than Sherstudios. A comfortable, safe, and pleasant environment where your musical aspirations can begin to take flight. You couldn't ask for a better mentor, trust me!!!

I've been working with Andy for over a year. He's tried to work with my strengths on bass guitar and provide me with ways to overcome my weaknesses. He teaches in a way that's clear and not overwhelming and what I learn leads somewhere. I would especially recommend Andy for adults because of his patience and willingness to adapt his lessons to me, the person that he's teaching. I'm so looking forward to learning more and playing live.

I am an older beginner who has been taking acoustic guitar lessons for about six months. He is thorough, patient, and encouraging with a focus on learning and playing the music that I enjoy. My family is amazed at the progress I've made. One other thing; I resisted learning guitar theory at first, but I've since learned to appreciate how it has expanded my playing.

Tim has been teaching my daughter for several months now. She was a beginner, never having played guitar, and within the first few weeks she was able to play songs. He encourages her to play music she enjoys, and to step outside her comfort zone by trying to sing along. Although practicing is most important, he never pushes too hard and is always patient with her when her busy schedule gets in the way. I would highly recommend Tim to anyone interested in learning to play.

Dave has been my guitar instructor for the past 8 years, since I first began playing at age 60. He has a most effective teaching technique which allows skill building while permitting musical interest and direction to evolve. He is strongly suited to instruction in many genres including Classical/Flamenco, Jazz, Folk and Acoustic Rock.I have seen him work well with quite young students and those considerably older than my age of 68. Quite honestly, it is nearly impossible to request a song that Dave cannot play, transcribe, and find a key in which to play the song comfortably. He writes the charts for his latin jazz band, so my occasional forays into the world of music theory have also been well supported by Dave.

Guitar Hangar is a full-service music store, with a wide selection of instruments from beginner to high-end instruments at competitive prices. More importantly, they focus on service after the sale -- including repairs, maintenance, accessories and perhaps most importantly for new and intermediate musicians, lessons. Rick has been my go-to guy for more than 10 years, and I give him and Guitar Hangar my highest recommendation.

I hired Preston for guitar lessons this summer and met with him for three lessons before having to go back to school. Preston is a real chill guy, with an incredible beard and even greater passion for music. He'll listen to your questions patiently (I had thousands) and enthusiastically give incredibly thorough answers that, although sometimes may circle around to a few different topics, always come back around with really interesting insight to boot. Although he's a talented guitarist, probably the best things about Preston are his personality and availability. He and I texted about problems I was having with learning a song or scale, and he would (and still does, actually) email me with exercise suggestions. Great guitarist, better guy. Definitely check him out no matter what you're interested in learning on guitar!

Kevin is a terrific guitar teacher. He's very knowledgable (classically trained but knows a lot about different musical genres), comes to lessons prepared, and is very conscientious about teaching what I want to learn. I would definitely recommend him to anyone at the beginner / intermediate level.
