We had a video of our daughter's sweet 16 made last year. She still watches it with her friends! Thanks for the wonderful memories.

I was blown away with the fantastic quote Sunshine Entertainment gave me for my wedding reception, much more value for the price. the reception was fantastic, played all requests, played dance videos, and even went on the dance floor and lead everybody in line dances. Definitely will hire again - for an anniversary or something.

Marc was amazing! He did our engagement photos that he delivered in a very timely fashion. His work is incredible, and he has a great eye for posing and background. In our engagement photo shoot he had a lot more control and direction for us; however during our wedding he didn't have his assistant and wasn't able to exert the same amount with our loud Puerto Rican families. All in all I would highly recommend Mark and use him again for future events.

We had such a wonderful experience with both TeQoa and Andre! Not only is their work stunning, but they have a fantastic dynamic that put us at ease right away. We were immediately comfortable with them, and loved having them direct the shoot so that we could simply have fun together. They focused both on the ideas that we brought to the table, as well as provided tons of other photo and video opportunities that we hadn't thought of, which ended up being some of our favorite shots! Their attention to detail and eye to the artistic composition of each and every shot is unmatched. We felt incredibly taken care of and we had so much fun during our engagement shoot that we absolutely can't wait to work with them again at our wedding! Don't miss out on the opportunity to work with such amazing artists!

My husband and I had the privilege of working with Dmitry Gordievsky at our wedding. He filmed our wedding and made a short video clip of the highlights. Throughout the entire process he showed such enthusiasm, professionalism, and creativeness. It blew us away! He also had a great sense of humor that made the day so enjoyable! During our wedding I didn't have to worry about one thing because he had all the bases covered! Our videos were edited, completed, and delivered in such a timely fashion! He went above and beyond by consistently calling us and informing us what he was doing and when it would be done. All in all I couldn't think of a better videographer to film our wedding. If you are looking for a fun, interactive, relevant, professional, creative videographer for your event don't miss out on him! Thanks Dmitry!

I got a recommendation to hire L. Llewellyn, from a friend who'd hired him for some video editing work. I was skeptical, as I liked his video work he'd done for a friend, but I wasn't sure about his artwork abilities. Anyway, I'd hired him to make a pen and ink drawing, from a photo of my sister and I was very pleased with what he'd done. I think L. Llewellyn does great work (this is the way the art appears on L. Llewelllyn's website at www.alphamediaworks.com).

Ron did a really great job not only adapting to my needs but also my clients needs. He went out of his way to re-shoot the front elevation of the home because my client wanted a revised photo. He was ready to do it that same day that I requested for the re-shoot! Now, my client is ecstatic about how we went above and beyond... All thanks to Ron.

Ted came out to my house to shoot 5 video’s for a training series I was doing for my company, BizGoneSocial.com. He spent 4 hours filming the training. He was timely and very knowledgable and even helped me with my delivery. He also was enthusiastic and encouraging. What I really liked is he went beyond the call of duty and his edits & ideas were awesome. And the final outcome of the project was awesome. Also his camera guy was awesome too. I will be hiring Ted for any video job I have in the future.

Margaret was absolutely amazing! When my videographer cancelled a week before our wedding I didn't know what to do. She reached out to us at the last minute and saved the day. We couldn't imagine our day without a video. Thankfully Margaret was available, she was always around recording which is exactly what I wanted. Highly recommend!

Joey Delgado did an extremely professional and outstanding job in producing and editing my daughter's college field hockey recruiting video. He went the extra mile at each game, ensuring that he caught the best footage of her from the best vantage point in order to highlight her best skills. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in being recruited for college sports.

Antonio created short video montages that acted as promotion tools for my retail shop. He filmed a couple live events we had, and turned them into short snippets I shared on social media for fans and publicity. He did it all from filming, editing, color correcting, and adding music—one stop shopping you could say! All was done very well, too. Antonio is friendly, enthusiastic, creative, open to feedback, and I already plan to work with him again.

Peter has been our go to video producer for years and is now a very important member of our team. He provides outstanding input on project planning and then delivers an excellent product on time and does so within budget. The quality of our video projects has improved greatly over the years and it is due to Peter's willingness to provide advice and leadership on projects. Great guy to work with and he makes our company better.

Working with such a professional team is such a breeze. I love working with Beverly Boy, they have completely changed the face of our company by merely producing an amazing web video that is on our home web page. Flipping between testimonials, our vision, and company history, they compelled an amazing short video that our customers love.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
