Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My primary focus is to help others enjoy the guitar and music as much as I do. And seeing how I've chosen this as a career, that's quite a bit. Music may be complex, but not incomprehensible. It takes a little while to figure it out but you'll be glad you did. I play professionally so I spend a lot of time playing different styles and techniques at a very high level. I have decades of experience teaching and have even written my own guitar method. I am proficient with several software applications that allow me to record things for students and write out new exercises tailored for each student. Regardless of what style you like I can help students realize their goals and become self-sufficient. Learn what you need to know and play the rest of your life. I like that I get to do an art form for an occupation, and that I get to share with others how they may participate in the arts themselves. The experience of playing music is like no other and I hope to share that with others.

Tim was recommended to us for our 12 year old son by some friends who are music professors and professionals. We wanted someone who not only had good credentials, but who could also be a good teacher for a young kid just starting out. As I'm sure you appreciate, those are two very different skill sets. Tim has exceeded our expectations. We are very pleased and proud to say that our son's progress in three short months even surprised Tim. We make sure our son practices, but without Tim's intuitive teaching ability, he might not be this enthusiastic. We wanted to make sure that our boy got a good, positive start and firm grasp of the basics and Tim has accomplished that task. Our son is now excited to learn new skills with Tim. Thanks to Tim, its likely he'll be able to enjoy playing music for years to come. A great value and a worthwhile investment.

I started taking lessons from Tim back in Feb. I am 47 now took lessons when I was younger . He has started me from the ground level which is what I needed and moves along with the progress I try to make each week. Hard to practice some weeks due to life commitments. But he is also working on helping me make the most of my practice time and to find more of it through the week. I have to say I can now play the 12 bar blues and he is working with me on some good stuff . He is very patient and does not mind the questions. Tim is laid back, easy going and definitely enjoys music , and some of it has rubbed off on me . I feel good about where we are at in our lessons . I am really glad I found Tim, just the right kind of teacher , even for us aging folks. If I could sum Tim up in one word as a teacher , stupendous. Don't pass him up .

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Weekly lesson are given in 30, 45 or 60 minute sessions at $27, $37 and $47, respectively and payable on a monthly basis. Bi-weekly sessions for 45 and 60 minute sessions are $42 and $52, respectively.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I start with a free 30 minute trial lesson that lets us get to know one another, find out goals and assess strengths and areas of improvement. From there we'll find a mutually convenient time to meet on a weekly basis.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Absolutely. I'm kind of a tech nut and keep up on gear that can help a player get to the next level. As a Mac user, I use Garageband quite a bit. It's a great scratch pad that can get your ideas well formed before letting the pro engineers lay it down. I also stay current with what's in the music stores. Some of it can be good and will stick around, but there's a lot of gimmicky stuff I want to help people avoid. In terms of music, I'll teach students WHATEVER they want to learn. It may not be my cup of tea, but I'm not going to tell someone "I won't teach you that because I don't like it, or it's no good." I can go on youtube and check out the latest single, learn it and share it. I read a lot too, so that keeps me 'in the know'.
