"I am a Massage Therapist as well. I recently received my first massage from Matt. He has an amazing gentle touch but with the pressure needed for the muscles to release. He addressed all the issues we discussed prior to the session. I couldn't leave without buying a holiday package of 5 sessions for an amazing deal!! Highly recommend Matt!"

"Jenna is an excellent massage therapist and is eager to make you feel your best. I've also had a pedicure at Gratitude, which was one of the best I've ever had. She does not use nail polish, but I don't like to use that anyway. She uses essential oils in her treatments, so you are enveloped in uplifting, healthy aromas that are good for your skin."

"From the booking process up until leaving the door, my experience is always impeccable and delightful. Jennifer my massage therapist, offers very professional service , and is always kind, sweet, & attentive. She's happy to focus on areas that might be troubling you on each visit. Her intuition proved true throughout the session. She specializes in deep tissue massage , also offers relaxing Swedish. At the end of the session I felt new and re-energized. Ive had massages done many times before(both therapeutic and relaxation) , and she is by far the best ! The treatment was thorough and significantly relieved the tightness in my back and legs. It I felt noticeably better afterward. I am absolutely comying back and highly recommend her to anyone. Looking forward to getting another session sometime soon ! Thank you, Michael D Sent from my iPhone"

"I am a LMT that used to work with Matt. While I've never had a full massage from him, one day I came to work with a terrible headache, and he worked on my neck and scalp for about 10 minutes and magically my headache disappeared!! The few minutes he spent helping a fellow coworker were amazing, so I'm certain that the rest of his massage is equally fantastic! Also, just talking with him about techniques and pathologies between our clients, I know he's extremely knowledgeable and his clients were always glowing when they left him."

"Jeff has trained me for several months. In that time, he has helped me to lose over 20 pounds, build muscle, and gain flexibility. His workouts are fun and help me to work on my weak areas (stomach and legs) while burning maximum calories. I highly recommend him to anyone needing weight loss advice as well as personal training."

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
