This move was by far the easiest, smoothest I've ever experienced, thanks to Hassle Free Movers! Their remarkable care, speed and professionalism was a stark contrast with other moving companies I've used. They made my long distance move (CT to NY) truly 'hassle free'. I could not have been happier with my experience with this company! They will definitely be my first call with any future moves!

I contacted All Points Movers with a fairly last minute request. This was not a full house move, but rather just several (incredibly) heavy items. In spite of living a distance away from where the movers were coming from, the company offered to take the job at a very reasonable price. We were expecting two movers, but the company was able to send four, which made the job incredibly fast. If we require additional moving services, we would definitely contact All Points Movers again.

Two weeks ago I used CT Moving Helpers to move my belongings down to Atlanta from CT. Throughought the process from quote to move in this team was honest. They gave me a fair quote, were very communicative as my belongings were picked up, gave me updates on the travel progress, and flexible in terms of logistics. All of my furniture, boxes, and big screen TV arrived safely. The move team also had a great attitude throughout which was very appreciated. Sean and Rob did a great job of moving everything in carefully and planning the move with Angela was pretty close to seamless. I would highly recommend this company for any move, long distance or local, and will use this company again if I have the opportunity to do so. Appreciate the hard work and professionalism! Thanks again for making the move easy for me!

Company owner Ryan and I ended up at the wrong pickup point for my packages, but he didn't complain about the extra 20 minute drive to the correct location. When he arrived, we encountered a postal clerk who told us it was impossible to get my boxes, since he was working alone, and he couldn't give us access to the building to get them ourselves. Ryan persisted in polite persuasion about the situation, and after five minutes, the man held up a mail truck and let Ryan and his helper use the postal loading dock. Stellar performance on Ryan's part. When we arrived at my destination, Ryan and his helper neatly stacked my boxes around the sides of the garage--not just in a big pile. A bonus to the pair's performance as movers, Ryan was very enjoyable to work with (oh, and his helper was nice too!) I highly recommend this company to one and all.

I had an exceptional experience with the Phoenix movers crew. Brian and his crew were professional, courteous, on time, hard working and most important in the budget. Brian did a great job of answering all of my questions and making me feel comfortable the entire time. They helped take away the stress associated with moving. I was very pleased of how knowledgeable they were in packing my items. All of my items were handled with extreme care. Everything was packed appropriately and they are professionals at packing the truck!!! I was amazed that all of my stuff was able to fit. I was glad that I chose this crew for the job and don't know how I would have done it without them. They put my mind at ease and took care of everything! I have already told all of my friends and colleagues about my experience and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of moving help, whether local or long distance. They are the guys for the job!

I'm glad I chose Move Quick for my move. The company and their workers were everything I could have asked for. They were respectful and did their best to please me during my move. All my things were packed away nice and neat. When I received my stuff on time, all of my things were just the way I left them, not a scratch on them. I just wanted to take this time to express my great gratitude towards this company for honestly helping me with everything. They are a great company for any long distance moves.

I was extremely impressed with Roman and his company. Long-term stressful circumstances and everything needing to be timed to the minute left me with a small margin for error on my part, the movers, the scrap metal guy, Salvation Army, etc. Roman and Joseph showed up exactly at 11 as promised. Roman immediately took calm control of everything by suggesting a walk through. Then he said "Let's get started!" And he and Joseph briskly and efficiently emptied my house and packed the truck. Several times I had questions. Each time Roman smiled, answered and communicated in manner and words "Everything's under control. No problem." Even Joseph looked at me kindly and said "Don't worry. We'll take care of everything." I have no car so I rode to my new place with them. By the time we got there, I was so relaxed, I was laughing. And just as efficiently, they unloaded the truck up some very steep stairs, keeping their smiles the entire time. I bought them lunch: I was very grateful not only for their efficiency and capability, but for the de-stressing factor they added to my life simply by being my movers. Historically I move frequently, and so I definitely count Roman and his people as my MFL (Movers For Life). Added note is that he was the GM for Two Men and a Truck for 10 years prior to starting his own business 4 years ago with his own capital, growing a bit at a time. I’ve worked with people my entire life; what I do depends on my ability to accurately asses a person, who they are, and what they’re about. I heard Roman handle several client calls for upcoming moves very professionally with the same assurance that left me knowing I was hiring the right guys. Roman is conscientious, sharp, and focused on building a strong and ethical business dedicated to helping people have peace of mind during their move. I’m definitely using him again – if he agrees to, knowing he’ll have to deal with those stairs again when I move out!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
