I hired Todd to clean my gutters and roof, he upsold me Leaf Relief gutter guards to prevent gutter clogs (my gutters were filled with weeds). Todd was very responsive to messages, he came out to give me a quote quickly and when I told him I needed time before hiring him for the job he was very polite and understanding. When I was ready for Todd to begin work he was able to start the job within days. I did not feel not pressured, and felt Todd was understanding to my needs. My roof looks great and gutters are protected, Thanks Todd.

I had Afonso come over gave me a good quote on the roof. Within few days him and his guys started to put down new roof the roof was leaking bad due to previous roof had Damaged most of sheed rock and my sky lights. Ever since since new roof havent had any leaks so far in contract we had to repair the skylights with flashing but they requested new skylights I went and bought new skylights due to extensive damage they put the skylights down at no cost due to contract and had all replaced gutters and put new copper on chimney which where on contract. Over all they did good job only suggestion I have is make sure for future they run the magnet for nails I had to plug my car tire three times due to screws and nails. Other than that roof hasn't had any leaks yet.

I chose Henry Guzman and CT Masonry & Waterproofing to replace my roof because he came in with a very good price (lowest out of the 3 estimates) but for most important to me are the excellent reviews I read about the company. I was not disappointed. Henry and his crew arrived at my residence at the scheduled time and finished the same day. His crew did an excellent job on my roof. They were very polite, answered all my questions and did a very thorough clean up of the property. It was a pleasure to work with Henry and I would highly recommend CTM&W.

AJ construction has done alot of work for me in my home which includes painting, electrical work, tile work, my roof, and overall maintenance when I have any issues. This is the only company I reach out to whenever I have any repairs for my home. They are nice guys, responsive, and dependable. I've been using this company for three years and will continue to do so!!

My experience with Henderson Construction could not have been better. It's nice to find a contractor that communicates and does what he says he's going to do, when he says he'll do it! His quote was very competitive and the quality of the work was top notch. I would highly recommend Henderson construction to anybody who needs a new roof or any other major construction needs.

After receiving three appraisals for a roof replacement Squire Roofing, Andrew (Drew) Oehler, owner, got back to me within a few days. His appraisal was in the ballpark and I had (word of mouth) heard that his company was very reputable. I rent this house and worked with Tracy Tomaselli, owner, to select a roofer. We agreed on Drew. Once the deposit was made Drew came by to say that a dumpster would be delivered that morning. And that materials would also be delivered by noon that same day. Both were delivered that same morning. Drew also explained that his crew would be starting at 8:00 am Saturday and work two days to complete the job. He questioned if 8:00 am was too early. (it wasn't) At exactly 8:00 am the crew showed up. I went out to introduce myself to the foreman which I found was very polite, knowledgeable, and personable. I spoke to him during the day to ask if there were any problems (ex: plywood warped, any rotting etc), there was nothing but the replacement of the entire roof, no issues or concerns. The first day they finished one side and said they'd be back the next. Unfortunately, it rained on Sunday, but Monday at 8:00 am the crew was back and proceeded to complete the job, (the entire roof, the flashing to the chimney and a small roof over the kitchen addition.) During these two days Drew visited and spoke to the foreman and also stopped in the ask me if everything was okay? I had absolutely no concerns. At the finish of the job the crew cleaned up the entire yard like it had never happened!! Immaculate! I couldn't find a nail or any part of any of the tiles. Drew was very on top of his crew and my concerns (which there weren't any). I would give this contractor a 10 or A+ and highly recommend him to anyone. Sincerely, Linda L. Tom has done many jobs at our home in Carmel, NY, installed a two layer deck , installed 4 sliding galss doors which opened out to the new deck, riped up old style slate floors in the kitchen and installed new ones, repaired the ceiling in our living room(house was built in 55 so its this ole house,LOL) and has always done a fime job. After all this work which was done since we moved in July of 2013 plus when we moved that day he also installed a wood fence around a large part of the back yard which he started the day we moved and finished within 2 days(210' of fence) so our 4 dogs would have a play/poop area. He works with you and comes up with some very good idea's on the jobs as well and his prices are fair, I would recomend Tom for any home remodeling /improvements. He will be doing our master bath floor soon as well.

Chris has worked on my "flat" roof several times -- it is rolled rubber now (formerly asphalt which continuously failed) because of him and his Dad determining rubber to be the best solution to the continuous leaking I had my family had experienced since 1947 when the house was built. The roof he and his Dad installed (SW Debbs LLC) is protecting my 1947 "modern" house with a roof that looks flat but is efficiently pitched. The roof on this house always presented problems with its asphalt coating used over decades -- major leaks and interior damage had consistently occurred. Chris and his father installed rolled rubber to remedy the situation. They also discovered through close examination that some seepage was occurring via eroded concrete on a decorative parapet. They applied material that stopped this water seepage efficiently. What a relief to find someone who would not walk away from a challenge -- someone who stuck with the problem until it was solved satisfactorily! Rare! Most recently Chris and his Dad repaired a portion of the "flat" roof that had been installed (before I met them) by another contractor. They adjusted the slight pitch of that portion of the roof to channel the run-off efficiently, installed insulation which had not been done previously, and re-installed rolled rubber properly. Again, a long-standing problem was diagnosed and solved at a reasonable cost. Chris is efficient, on time, focused, friendly, and totally reliable. He gets the job done at a reasonable price. I am currently renovating a colonial house from the 1790s, and I intend to have the roof rebuilt and replaced by Chris' company. I know him to be honest, hard-working, dependable, and determined to solve problems and produce robust results. I offer my highest recommendation!

Fantastic job lads! These guys saved my porch after another contractor came in and did a shotty job. They ripped out all his old work and replaced all the dry wall and even part of the roof. Even though they had to rip out all the old work they still did it in half the time it took the other guys to do the whole job. These Men are great!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
