Barbara is an excellent music instructor. I have had 3 sessions so far and feel like I have learned so much from her. I can't wait to see how much more I will improve in the next 3 sessions. I'm glad I signed up for singing lessons at the Alexander Music Studio!
"Thumbtack" helped me find Erin for my wedding ceremony this past June-her talent, passion, flexibility, and kindness were out of this world. I was married on my grandfathers hay farm; not only was Erin up for the challenge (limited electricity and a super wet field-it rained A LOT in June) she also helped my piano duo vision come true and pointed me in the flute/piano duo package (thank you Mike!!). My guests were blown away by the ceremony music: "where did you find them?! They play beautifully!" and many asked if there were ceremony soundtracks for purchase! I cannot express how much I truly enjoyed working with Erin (through emails due to distance) up to my big day-when we FINALLY met. Erin even brought her own equipment and worked with our not-so-great J.O.P. to incorporate music during our ceremony. So...if you're considering musicians for your wedding and want someone or even a duo (as we chose) who makes you go "wow" after listening to various pieces-I highly and sincerely recommend you look no further. Thank you so much Erin and Mike, for creating such a heart warming & special atmosphere for mine and Nate's wedding day.
I had my first lesson. Linda is amazing. She's professional, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and warm. She gently pushed and challenged me, all while exhibiting the kindest patience with reminding me of my fingering and applauding my efforts. She provided written and verbal instruction techniques I can practice to improve placement, breath control, and resonance. We played several pieces, and now, I have my work cut out in preparation for my next session. I know I will improve and develop quickly under get tutelage.
My younger son takes guitar lessons with Frank Enea every week. He works really well with kids and my son loves his lessons. It is easy to see how much Frank loves music and seeks to instill that same love of music in his students. He is able to quickly assess what works and what doesn't work for each individual student and tailor his approach to the student in a way that works best for him or her. He was also able to refer my older son to a great flute teacher.
Helene was my piano teacher from kindergarten through high school. She taught me how to read, understand, play and love music. Furthermore, my early -and in-depth- start with piano prepared me for years of trumpet in various advanced bands. Although I am not currently taking lessons, I still sit down to play piano whenever I get the chance. I'll play anything from Bach to Beethoven to Josh Groban to new and classic Disney - really anything I'm in the mood for. Helene's teaching has made me proficient enough in piano and music in general such that I can truly enjoy playing. Thanks Helene!!
Rowan taught both my children piano (and so much more) from the time they were in grade school until they each graduated from High School. Believe me, keeping a teenager interested and motivated when the world offers so many distractions is a herculean feat unto itself. Because of Rowan, my children have ( and what I am sure will continue to be) a lifelong appreciation for music.
David Markowitz is an exceptional musician and teacher. Throughout my eight years as his student, he expanded my musical horizons, especially with regards to classical, jazz, and Irish flute, and nurtured my lifelong love for music. David consistently pushed me to the limits of my technical abilities, expanded my knowledge of music theory (jazz and classical), and helped me develop my skills in improvisation and performance. I was inspired by the diverse selection of music that he brought to our lessons. Whether we were rehearsing a movement from Carmen Fantasy, sight-reading a bebop duet, or learning an Irish reel, he taught with deep knowledge of technique and historical context. He additionally helped me prepare for my NYSSMA festival solos throughout middle and high school. David supported my musical interests with challenging material and was personally invested in my growth as a musician.
Laura is a great teacher! She's conscientious and thoughtful, very helpful with students in class, and creative in her approach to postures and yoga skills. I've learned an incredible amount from her in the past four years!
I had a great experience taking lessons with Kendra. As an older adult taking up the saxophone for the first time she showed extreme patience. She is extremely talented and takes the relationship with her students very seriously. She is willing to work with her students wherever they are and the goals they have. I recommend her very highly.
Since taking lessons with Elaine, we have seen a great increase in both my daughter's skills and confidence in playing both the flute and piccolo. We had spent years at our local music shop and were recommended to Elaine by a local band teacher. Elaine is flexible and patient with her students. Her years of experience not only playing flute, alto flute and piccolo, but also teaching students how to play, are evident when you see and listen to your child perform after working with Elaine. I would not hesitate to recommend Elaine as an instructor or an entertainer at one of your events.
I find Ms. Steckler an outstanding music teacher. Patient, enthusiastic and nurturing. Ms. Steckler conveys a deep knowledge and communicates a profound love of music. We adore her.
I give my students support and encouragement as they learn all about music and musical styles. If they would like to, they have the opportunity to play in seasonal recitals and also at retirement communities.
I really like to challenge my students and to create little games to help them progress. I personally believe that pushing people to do their best requires not only hard work, but some level of fun.
