Gretchen Hatfield Illustrations

Introduction: "Art for your life." I do illustration, murals, and animal portraiture. I am a published illustrator, 17 years with Twenty-Third Publications, formerly of Mystic, CT. I specialize in children's book illustrating. My mural work clients include Essex Valley Railroad, Mystic Seaport Museum Exhibits, The Elms Retirement Community, Groton Ledyard Veterinarian Hospital, and several residential sites. I have participated in shows in CT, RI, ME, NH, and QC. I have been an artist-in-residence at the Institute on Religion in an Age of Science (IRAS) Convention at Star Island, NH in 2010 and a Griffis/Orpheus Foundation fellowship recipient for the Bulgarian/American artist exchange program in 2006. I curate student art exhibits for the Kente Cultural Center Gallery, and currently work with seniors doing art projects. Customers respond to my work because they feel I capture the personality of my subjects and because they can make a personal connection with it.
