Introduction: I am a Connecticut based jazz guitarist and acoustic instrument enthusiast. I perform a varied repertoire as a solo guitarist, specializing in the gypsy jazz genre, which mainly consists of standards from the '30s and '40s. I play an acoustic guitar of European design, fashioned after the Selmer-Macafarri model which was made famous by Django Reinhardt and is ubiquitous among guitarists who perform this music. It was designed to project loud enough to be heard over a live band yet also be dynamic enough for any small-scale musical setting. As such, I seldom need amplification and can play virtually anywhere. Even when amplification is required, I can employ a fully battery-power speaker system to help project in louder settings, which allows me to provide light PA support for any event and perform in relatively remote locations (i.e., no available electricity).

I first heard Preston play at an anniversary event for one of Torrington's small downtown retailers. I was setting up a birthday party for my dad's big 80th at the time and thought the jazz guitar would be just the thing. I was right, and Preston didn't disappoint. The music really added a classy ambiance; I got more compliments on the music than the food and the food was also superb! A social event is really missing something without music. Give this troubadour a try sometime.

I hired Preston for guitar lessons this summer and met with him for three lessons before having to go back to school. Preston is a real chill guy, with an incredible beard and even greater passion for music. He'll listen to your questions patiently (I had thousands) and enthusiastically give incredibly thorough answers that, although sometimes may circle around to a few different topics, always come back around with really interesting insight to boot. Although he's a talented guitarist, probably the best things about Preston are his personality and availability. He and I texted about problems I was having with learning a song or scale, and he would (and still does, actually) email me with exercise suggestions. Great guitarist, better guy. Definitely check him out no matter what you're interested in learning on guitar!
