I've spent countless hours reading customer reviews, canvassing contractor's website, viewing multiple social media platforms in search of a carpenter that meets my criteria which is honest, skilled/knowledgeable, trustworthy, clean and considerate. Basically I was looking for a professional who would listen to what I wanted and then do it. I have found this request extremely difficult to achieve. Ergo, I will try to further describe my expectations and ultimately the carpenter I found, Frank Altieri of Altieri Construction who not only meet my criteria but also exceeded my wildest dreams by transforming my space into the beautiful, relaxing, serene room it was meant to be. A carpenter who would treat (e.g., not track mud throughout my house, unnecessary dirty hands on walls, using a drop cloth to place tools on instead of my hardwood floor) my home/items in it with respect. Frank placed drop clothes- CLEAN drop clothes throughout my house. He used plastic to cover areas a drop cloth couldn't be used. One rainy day his crew needed to come in & out of my house multiple times, walking through a muddy patch each time. His crew took the time to take on & off booties (cloth cover wraps) so that my floors would not get destroyed. These are the little things to me that make all the difference in the world. A carpenter who was as considerate of my time as they are of their own. Now having said that, I am very familiar with the day to day scheduling difficulties a tradesmans encounters due to the inability to predict the length of time each job may be. I understand the many variables (e.g., having to leave a job to get a part, delays at stores when buying materials, having to load & unload materials, setting up & breaking down jobs, travel time, traffic, discussion with customers that take longer then expected, having to get fuel, pulling off road to take a call, etc.) a tradesman must deal with. Although I understand these challenges, the tradesman I hire must be one that is considerate enough to call/text if the time needs to be changed. The office staff with Altieri Construction did contact me prior to my schedule job start date to inform me of a conflict and that we would need to reschedule. My job ended up being delayed for almost 2 weeks because of commitments on both of our ends. I have to admit I did understand but of course I was disappointed. I wanted my job done yesterday I was ready to go why wasn't he? Then I realized the world does not revolve around me and although I was hiring Altieri Construction I did not own them. So I waited and once the wait was over well... I WAS TICKLED PINK, ON TOP OF THE WORLD, OVER THE MOON, HAPPY AS A CLAM, ON CLOUD NINE IN SEVENTH HEAVEN. The job Altieri Construction did left me speechless! It was amazing and exactly what I asked for! Mr. Altieri prior to the start of my job explained in detail the steps/process involved, I must admit I can not recall these details but that is why he is the expert, the skilled & knowledgeable tradesman and I am not. I am the customer, the more than satisfied customer who can honestly say, Every cent I spent was worth it and that is a gratifying feeling! Frank Altieri, the owner of Altieri Construction was honest, he did exactly what he said he would which was exactly what I asked. They were trustworthy, clean and considerate. The areas of my house they were not working on were left just the same as the day before they arrived. Anyone searching for a carpenter/handyman? I strongly recommend: Frank Altieri, owner of Altieri Construction of Trumbull, CT www.altiericonstruction.com Phone: 203-449-4581 Email: altiericonstruction@yahoo.com

Frank first did some work for me in the fall of 2013. He did some sheet rock repair over my fireplace because of a chimney leak and painted three rooms in my house. Did an A+ job. Called him back a few months later to do renovation work in my bathroom. He did more sheet rock repair in my tub enclosure and put tile up. Did an AA+ job. So far so good. Called him back about a year and half later to put up new entry and inside doors in the front and back of my house and do some plumbing work. It was the plumbing work that turned this whole thing sour. Frank claimed that a slow drainage problem was being caused by clogging in the trap pipes below the bathroom in the cellar. This was the last I ever saw of him. After calling him time and again and getting his promise that he would set a date to do the job I finally engaged another plumber. This plumber told me that if the pipes in the cellar weren't leaking there was nothing wrong with them. The problem was in the bathroom. After snaking the bathroom sink and tub drain and pouring an unclogging substance down them the problem was solved which saved me the $500 Frank Altieri was going to charge me.I don't know what Frank Altieri's problem was with me and I have stopped trying to figure it out. It's a sad commentary because he is capable of doing some really fine work. If you want to hire him and he does a good job for you more power to you. I certainly won't call him again

Type your response to this review.frank Depino of Hamden fails to list the two jobs that we did for him to which he absolutely loved and was satisfied with. This is a bitter man and I feel sorry for him. He called me back to do more work for him. He has no money and is seeking to get work done for free. He is scorned due to the fact that we turned his job down. I never took any money from him nor did I look at his plumbing issues. He is acting like a thug and hoodlum in writing this review. A very bitter old man with nothing better to do throughout retirement but to bash a well known and reputable business that has provided him excellent services in the past. Shame on you Frank Depino! Get a life old man!

In the fall of 2014 we purchased a house that was built in the mid 50's. There had been no update whatsoever done to this house. Everything was original. We hired Altieri Construction to help us with updating this dinosaur and couldn't be happier with his work. He began by changing out every window in the house from the old, worn, wooden windows to new energy efficient vinyl windows. Lots of savings there in heating costs and noise reduction! He was professional, reliable and neat. We were completely satisfied with the installation. Next we had to update our kitchen. It consisted of metal cabinets that were so old they were rusted through, and old porcelain sink and a stand-alone old old stove. Frank helped us to select our new cabinets, countertops and a configuration that would work in a rather small space. (I've included a before and after picture of the kitchen.) The results were fabulous. We couldn't be happier with the work he's done for us and would most definitely use him again on our next project and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

This contractor was to complete a multi-stage exterior project on my home. He required 1/3rd of the overall contract price as a down payment to begin the project. Without my knowledge or consent, he retained a subcontractor to complete the first portion of the project (new gutters and leads). Before the subcontractor completed the initial part, the contractor (Frank) requested advance for the next portion of the project...which he never ever began. Four days after Frank was to begin the next part of the project, I was contacted by one of his workers that he had been involved in a car accident over Memorial Day weekend. What I did not know was that he had cashed the check I had given him at a local branch from which the check was written, pocketed the cash and had no intent to ever return the deposit to me or complete the work! Frank stopped answering all calls, would not respond to any emails, and would not answer any text messages. After pursuing the return of my deposit for weeks, I finally resorted to litigation. In a small claims proceeding, I secured a default judgment against Frank and his business. Frank did not bother responding to the complaint or even showing up for the damages hearing. He had already admitted that he should have returned at least a portion of the second deposit to me, but I never received a dime. I would never use this company to do anything. Frank is not reliable and untrustworthy. It is a painful lesson learned and one never to be repeated!

Frank set up an appointment for 2/2/2015 for 1pm, but he was a no call no show. I understand that there was a snowstorm and maybe traveling to my home could be difficult, so I call him. Maybe to reschedule if needed... No answer, no call, no show. Thanks for nothing.
