Gonzalo Zambrana has been my ballroom dance instructor for 16 years. I wanted to work with him because I knew he could teach all styles of partner dancing. He is a patient teacher and uses many different ways to explain and show exactly what he is trying to help his student learn. He quickly picks up on how an individual student learns and adjusts his teaching accordingly. He is also very knowledgeable about how the body works and how to protect it from injury.
I was pessimistic about this going in because I have not enjoyed dance lessons before this. Alina is outstanding and super easy to work with. My wife and I had a great experience with her and we are now the best dancers in the world.
The brilliance of Judicita as a wedding choreographer and dance teacher is best conveyed by my husband, Andrew: I am a man who is terrified of dancing. In six weeks, Judicita took my dancing from "baby giraffe immediately after birth" to, as our wedding guests commented, "surprisingly not terrible" and "actually kind of really impressive." I did not want to jump out of a window at any point in the teaching process. Judicita was professional, empathetic, and effective both as a teacher and a choreographer. I am extremely happy with the services she provided and would recommend her in a heartbeat. I proposed to a woman of Puerto Rican/Peruvian background. She lives to dance. I was informed, lovingly and with zero wiggle room, that our first dance at the wedding would involve me doing salsa. Growing up, the blackest nightmares I ever had involved me trying and failing to dancing in front of all of my friends and family. So, choking down the terror, my then-fiancée and I contracted with Judicita to teach us (i.e. me) a choreographed 3-4 minute salsa dance. Judicita is--and I cannot stress this enough--extremely good a teaching. She has all of the normal, fundamental dance instructor skills: she's a talented dancer herself, she's very good at motion analysis and mechanics, and she's able to define and adjust choreography on the fly. But where she truly excels is her raw ability to teach. Rather than the familiar and irritating "Do this. No, like this. Point your toe more. No, like THIS. Watch me AGAIN" style of fussy instruction you get at many salsa rooms, Judicita is genuinely and patiently focused on teaching you to move. "That was great!" says Judicita with what feels like genuine excitement. "If you hold your chin a little higher the spin will be tighter, but you've really got the basic motion down!". She continually explained the "why" behind the motions, and let us learn at our own pace without getting hung up on perfection. We learned exactly what we needed for our dance. More importantly, I didn't feel like I was going to throw up from stress during lessons. I could list out many other positives: her quick and precise decisions on choreography--always listening closely to what we liked and didn't like; her flexibility in dealing with our schedule; her constant positivity and professionalism. In the end, we successfully pulled of an amazing first dance that was exactly what my bride wanted. Was I actually a born dancer? An unpolished diamond in the rough whose amazing skills were simply waiting to be discovered? A modern-day Patrick Swayze, if you will? This is what I'll keep telling myself. But the truth is, the only reason I walked out onto the floor excited, confident, and prepared, instead of nauseous and terrified, is because Judicita guided me there every step of the way. She should be teaching movie stars and professional competition dancers, instead of awkward dudes hoping to impress their partners. But thank God she does.
Extremely talented dancer right here. I have been fortunate to be taught by him and to dance by his side. If you're looking for strong and innovative choreography that works for beginners all the way to professional dancers Marrs is the way to go!!!!
Asala was great! One of the best belly dancers I've seen in the D.C. area. I would definitely hire her again!
Raymond is one of the very best ballroom dancers in Maryland. My dance partner and I have been taking both private and group lessons from him, in 19 different types of dance, for almost 20 years. I study dance extensively, and find that he is able to answer my questions and point out where and what we need to do to improve. David Moore
Razilee is a beautiful, amazing dancer and she is very intelligent. One expects that she would be sensual and exotic. I really enjoyed her style of bellydancing, her costume, makeup, jewelry, her smile and how she talks about the art of bellydancing. She is a great teacher. I had a party in my home. First she danced two numbers and then she gave a lesson and it was very easy to follow. Everyone had a wonderful time. I would recommend her very highly.
I've seen other belly dancers; and she has been the best one. Other belly dancers seem to all be similar; but not her. Her dancing is unique and beautiful. It seems like her dancing comes from within. She involves the audience and they happily participate. She is awesome!
Awesome dancer and instructor. She's friendly, patient, and great with students of all ages!
She did an excellent job and quite a professional belly dancer, Thank you Leilah very much.
I'm a dancer myself with a strong dance background trained primarily in indian classical as well as many other forms. I joined Ninakshi to get back into dancing since I had lost touch after college and I absolutely love it! Nina choreographs in such a way that she uses a mix of all dance forms and creates true art out of it. Its a fun positive atmosphere with the camaraderie of a united team. Nina is a wonderful instructor she's extremely talented and leads the team to use everyone's strengths to make everyone shine. I have never seen kids dance like the way the kids from Ninakshi dance she does a great job with the younger kids along with our older group! I would recommend this to anyone looking to learn dance with an unforgettable experience!
I recently held a public event to expose the community to the Arab culture and wanted to incorporate belly dancing into the experience. Leyla's show was a perfect fit for my party and the audience LOVED her! The way she engaged the crowd and made them participants in the performance was just phenomenal. Should I get the chance to host another event like this one, I'd hire her all over again. :) Thanks, Leyla! - Aubrey M.
Latasha brown is a amazing dancer. I saw her perform at a event in Kansas once and her form was amazing and execution of movement was out of this world. She had great body control and technique that really demonstrated excellent skill. I must say it was a phenomenal overall.
