Our washing machine is not draining properly in the spin cycle, and I put in a request for quote on a Friday afternoon. Hached gave me a quote over the weekend and came out on Monday morning. After spending some time to test various parts, he determined that the faulty part would be half the price of a new machine, so he advised that we simply replace the machine. We so appreciated his speedy response and honest feedback on the problem. He's very courteous and professional throughout the process, and very clearly communicated the diagnosis and suggested solutions. If you want timely, courteous, and professional service for appliance repair, Hached is your man!

Appliance Installation project It was a positive experience working with, "Hi Solutions". They were very cooperative in finding a solution for the problem at hand and at the same time, they try to stay within a reasonable, affordable price to match the work needed. They work with you in whatever way that is necessary to get the job done. I would highly recommend them and also work with them again. Thank you, Marie & Lowery 👍

Our built-in microwave (Frigidaire) zapped out unexpectedly. We received quotes through Thumbtack and chose Same Day Repairs. Jacob, the owner, drove from Virginia to Howard County the very next day to give us an estimate. He was timely, efficient and provided a detailed and excellent diagnosis of the problem. Due to the budget, we're not having repairs done immediately, but will definitely call Jacob when we're ready. He gave us a little history of his experience, credentials and some of his other work. We felt confident that when we need service on any of our other appliances we can call Jacob.

We were having a problem with our 2 yr old Samsung dryer not heating. I received a quick response from Sonic and they were able to come out within a few hours of the time of request. They arrived promptly and the gentlemen (one in training) were pleasant, professional and most importantly, knowledgeable. They had the replacement part on their truck and the problem was diagnosed and remedied in a quick and efficient manner. I found the price to be fair, especially for the prompt and convenient service. I wouldn't hesitate to call on them again and I would highly recommend Sonic Appliance Services for your repair needs. Thank you guys for a job well done.

My oven's temperature remained at 100°. At 6:05 A. M. I started my stove/oven repairman search. At 6:14 A.M. Mr. Joe Charles sent a message of response to my request for service today. He was scheduled to arrive between 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. At 2:48 P.M. he called & arrived after 3:20 P.M. He was knowledgeable, professional, & efficient. He departed before 4:00 P.M. I delayed his departure because I purchased the Appliance Service Contract as he exited my home. He even determined that a turkey stopped my freezer's door from sealing tightly.

Power went out in our kitchen - lights, appliances, everything - and after doing a quick search on the web for electricians in our area, we came across A Good Electrician. Even though it was on a Saturday, Nick picked up the phone and agreed to come by our house to see what was going on after telling him it was a bit of an emergency. He arrived soon after, maybe an hour after we spoke on the phone. He figured it out right away and we had power back in our kitchen in less than an hour. I appreciated how Nick made the trip from Manassas (we live in Springfield) and he was very personable and honest about the work. I liked how it was less big business/corporate - we didn’t have to schedule an appointment through an operator or call center, be given a 4 hour window and deal with not knowing when they would actually arrive. He was fair and didn’t try to overcharge us. On top of all this, we recently had new vinyl siding installed and the outlet outside the house on our deck stopped working. It came up during our conversation and he asked to take a look and even fixed that for us while he was here. It was overall a great experience and I will definitely reach out to Nick and (A) Good Electrician again if I need any help with electrical work!

Robyn was great. He showed up on time, was tremendously professional and knowledgeable. He was able to help me with multiple jobs. He is officially my new appliance repair go to! He was able to fix a dishwasher in about 15 minutes. That three companies came out to repair (american home shield contractors) and couldn’t repair it in months. I highly recommend him.

Jorge went the extra mile. We hired him to install our double oven, which he did in an excellent manner. When he was finished he noticed that the dishwasher that was installed the day before by the guys who delivered it was not properly installed. He fixed it without hesitation. Had he not fixed it, we could have had serious problems that would have cost us a lot of money. I would hire Jorge in a heartbeat for my next appliance installation needs and highly recommend him to others.

Armtech repaired 2 refrigerators at my house. The serviceman knew exactly what the issues were when he took a look at the units. I'm giving 5 stars because the work was done at a pretty reasonable price, with a good attitude by a knowledgable tech. I highly recommend Armtech for your appliance repair.

Davon came earlier than anticipated (which was a positive) and was great about communicating with us about our appointment time. He identified the issue with our dryer and while he could have taken our money for a repair, he was very honest in explaining that it probably wouldn't be very cost effective and that we would be better off just replacing the appliance. Davon, thanks for your honest and prompt service!!

We had an issue with our dishwasher filling up with water from the sink and garbage disposal. Luis took the P-Trap apart and showed us how clogged the sink was after years of use. He then discussed preventative measure to make sure the issue doesn't happen again. This morning, we checked the dishwasher again and there is no more pooling, smelly water! Luis' professionalism and work quality was amazing. I will definitely request his services in the future and recommend it to anyone who needs assistance.

Nav got back to me right away and had two technician sent to my house within one day. He even offered same day service as well (which was amazing), but no one was home to meet the technicians the day I submitted the request. I was extremely impressed by the customer service and the level of communication. Thank you so much. I will definitely reach out again should we need appliance repair services!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
