Introduction: I love sharing my passion for music and enjoy teaching a diverse group of students. My teaching philosophy and curriculum is individualized to be centered around meeting the needs and goals of the student. I have worked with all levels of students from those just beginning to play the cello to preparing cellists to study at top level music conservatories across the country! My strong performance background in cello across many genres gives me a high degree of flexibility as a teacher. I emphasize consistent practice and good technique; but I also prioritize giving students weekly goals so they can easily see their improvements and progress. This is such a rewarding part of learning music! I look forward to working with you as your cello teacher. I hold a BM (Ithaca College) and MM (Purchase College) in Cello Performance. I enjoy composing and arranging professionally and produce music for TV/Film. To learn more about me, my CV, and my work please visit my website.

Daniel is a dedicated teacher with years of experience. He taylors his teaching style to fit the needs and goals of the student. I went to Daniel with minimal cello experience and within weeks I had felt that I had a better understanding of the instrument, by learning how to train my ear, and build up muscles in my hands. He gives clear direction for practicing at home and teaches you how to teach yourself, while forming good habits. I look forward to this year of learning under Mr. Frankhuizen, and to my weekly lessons!

Daniel is not only an amazing musician - he is a wonderful teacher! He is reliable, friendly, and patient and connects with students of all ages. Daniel has a knack for understanding each student as an individual, and tailors his lessons to bring out each student's unique talents. You will not be disappointed if you choose Daniel as your cello teacher!

Cello Lessons

Daniel is wonderfully understanding and kind - not to mention hilarious! His hours are quite flexible as well, which is incredibly helpful. And, of course, he is a very skilled cellist. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to learn to play the cello!

As a late-in-life first time string student, I find Daniel to be a patient instructor, yet ever challenging me to learn and grow as a cellist. His obvious love and knowledge of the cello are contagious. Under his tutelage, I feel a sense of joy and accomplishment.

Daniel Frankhuizen is a wonderful teacher. He has great depth of technical expertise and is quite talented at bringing out the best in his students. He consistently focuses on what a student does well, while at the same time clearly pointing out what needs improvement and providing excellent instruction. His approach is flexible and creative. I highly recommend this studio.
