Chef Darryl was very attentive and responsive concerning any questions that I had from day one. The food was absolutely delicious and much of it was gone before the day was over. A Family Affair will be my go to for any future catering needs.

A Family Affair Catering cooked all the delicious food and then served during my outdoor backyard gathering for 25 people. Their presence made a huge positive difference. My party was lovely despite 97 degree super hot May weather today. Everyone had seconds even in the heat. The team was gracious, professional, and the food was fabulous. My friends raved about the salmon, the string beans, the potato salad; the jumbalya; the peach cobbler. This was my first time using a caterer and it won’t be my last. Everyone asked for the caterer card including my college age daughters. When your college aged foodie children love the caterer’s food, then you know you’ve hit a real home run. If you want excellence great taste and true value choose A Family Affair. Afterwards they left my place so lovely. That was an unexpected added bonus…no big kitchen clean up for me…. Thanks for a job well done. It’s five stars for me 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Thank you so much Chef Darryl. You have made my experience of a personal chef at my friend's suprise birthday party an awesome one. You were very professional in the planning of our dinner party. You planned the 4 course dinner taking all consideration of our preferences and making adjustment. Yes! You were punctual with a great smile. I must say thanks to your assistant, Miss Linda. Chef Darryl and Linda put on a fabulous BBQ recently in our back yard. They were exceptional to work with. Pre-event, Chef Darryl was very responsive, helpful and organized. This made me very confident that he had everything covered. The day of, Darryl & Linda were punctual and very easy to work with in getting everything set up. At dinner, everything was presented in an appealing and appetizing fashion. And the food….that was the high point! There were so many dishes and all were beautifully prepared and presented. One of our guests had three plates full, and all the kids loved it! I’m from the south and picked A Family Affair specifically for their menu options. I’m pleased to say that all southern dishes passed muster with flying colors! We had appetizers, three grilled entre choices, lots of sides, yummy corn bread, and dessert—with leftovers! The kids wanted to take the leftover corn bread home on the plane! When it was time to go, the team cleaned up thoroughly, and made a gracious exit. These folks love what they do and it shows. Thank you, Chef Darryl & Linda, for making this occasion with special friends very special! We’ll be back!

I hired A Family Affair Catering for my wife’s birthday and they really came through. Chef Darryl was very communicative through the whole process and helped us set up a gluten free menu as we have a celiac in our friend circle. On the day of the party, everything was delivered right on time, hot and ready to eat. Everyone loved the food, would definitely hire them again!

We charge either per person, or per platter depending on what works best for the customer.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first step is menu consultation. Once the budget is decided we propose a menu based on event type, time and the customer's specifications. After the menu is selected, the date is reserved and the fun begins.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our Executive Chef has a degree in Culinary Arts and has worked for the past 15 years throughout DC fine tuning his skills and finding wonderful, skilled people to work with.
