Very flexible with my schedule. Came the next day and fixed the problem quickly. Nick even walked me through what he was doing so I'd know in the future. Pricing was fair and my shower/tub is working great. Much Appreciated!!! Very rare that you find someone who fixes the problem and doesn't try to swindle you out of more money.

Walter of Hi Solutions responded to my thumbtack query with a competitive bid. On calling he asked succinct questions and reinforced the estimate and committed to a scheduled arrival to fix a pinhole leak in piping at my hot water heater. He arrived on time, was efficient and very courteous and careful to explain what he did and provided me some useful information about the piping in our home. I had previously gotten other estimates which were as much as twice the amount for this simple repair or from companies that would not commit to an estimate without visiting and charging a fee just to look at it. (as high as $85.00). Ct Walter's service gets 5 stars without any reservation or downside..

There were 3 parts to my project. The first one involved disassembling an in house water fountain and that has been completed and I am very satisfied. The second project is indoor painting and I am very satisfied with that also. The final project has yet to be completed and involves flooring but based on the finished product of the other 2 projects, I have no doubt I will be very happy with the end result. I would recommend Gary for any project you have.

Posted for immediate repair and Dupree came out exactly when he said he would, hours after my post. He fixed two hose bibbs and a hot water heater valve, and worked with me to figure out the issues before doing the work. Will definitely hire again.

Months ago, I looked for someone to do a small painting project on Thumbtack. And I ended up with a brand new home. Christian, Jessica, Hector and the rest of the team at 5th Gen Group honestly do miracles. We own a 100+ year old row home in Washington DC and we've had problems ever since we moved in five years ago. After dealing with four different contractors that left me unsatisfied, I tried Thumbtack (at that time, new in the DC area). Christian came out to do an estimate and I was impressed by him from the get go - as a woman, I hate when contractors act like I'm stupid or uninformed. Christian never did that, and he answered all my questions respectfully and thoroughly and would defer to my wishes. We initially contracted for a gut remodel of our ancient kitchen and leaking bathroom. Christian's professional opinion was heavily appreciated as well as his vision - he instantly "got" the feel of a space and spent a lot of time listening to not only what we wanted, but how we would use the space and what we planned for the house in the future. Of course, the best laid plans always go awry - we knew our house had a few "handyman specials" but once Christian opened up the floor in the kitchen, we realized we were really in for it. Down there was a hidden mess of rotting wires, missing piping, garbage from the last renovations, and rotted-out beams. Overnight, our budget doubled. I personally wanted to die. But Christian calmly lead us through the process, helped us try to salvage our murdered budget, and focused on explaining the trade-off in home values. We ended up with an additional half bath downstairs (because really, what was another 5K at that point?), brand new kitchen (with a small bar!) a brand new stairwell and relocated laundry room, and a brand new bathroom with a shower (after 5 years of an ancient leaking cast iron tub). Christian isn't completely perfect - he's totally a perfectionist, and if you are one too, be prepared for some long conversations. There is an epic texting exchange over the bathroom tile that I may print out just to see how long it really was. But that's about the only thing. Also, for the other ladies on here- I always hate opening my home to someone because I have had bad experiences with contractors who were, at best, creepy. Christian and Hector were completely professional, and they really went the extra mile to make sure I always knew who would be in the house, when they would arrive, and how to reach both of them. Christian also has a lot of loyalty and integrity toward his clients - he is always fair, both in pricing and in the treatment of your home. He broke a small appliance - the only reason I knew was because he called me when he was purchasing an (upgraded) replacement on his own dime. All renovations are hard projects, long projects, and frequently frustrating. There was definitely a day when I wanted to kill Christian for sending me out to two different quarries in far out Virginia right around rush around. But when I stepped into my home for the first time, I couldn't stop smiling. And when we finally scrape together the budget for a third floor extension, I know exactly who I am calling.

I’m so grateful to Chris and wife who came out on short notice and on a Sunday!! to rescue us from a failed attempt to move our hot tub. A renovation already in progress required the hot tub be moved ASAP! Much more complicated than we thought. Chris handled it with ease and the charge was very reasonable.

Mr. Brownlee did an excellent job installing a commercial hot water heater. My system was old and appeared to require additional elec & water supply work because of tenants' "adjustments". He had a professional come to check the elec input & didn't charge me for that service. Plus the total price for heater and install was very fair. Mr. Brownlee is pleasant and easy to deal with. I plan to use Brownlee Plumbing in the future.

I am extremely pleased with Ken the Plumber's work. Approximately a month ago, water began flowing down from my upstairs bathroom to my downstairs dining room to my basement. When I went to the upstairs bathroom there wasn't any water on the floor. I told each plumber on thumbtack that contacted me the same story which is that my great nephew had just gotten out of the tub and the water level was high but no water was on the floor. Each plumber, EXCEPT Ken, said that it was probably my drainage pipes. When I talked to Ken, he was the ONLY one who said that he thought the issue was with my back flow valve on my tub. I knew instinctively that he knew what he was talking about. He took the time to explain to me what the purpose of that silver plate was on the tub underneath the fawcett. I had no idea that it was to make sure that the water level didn't get too high and flow between the floors. I thought it was just for to activate the draining of the bath water. When he explained it to me, it made a lot of sense. I told him to check it out which he did in a very prompt manner. As he expected, the valve was missing a gasket (which is a relatively easy fix) which he fixed at a very reasonable rate. It was not the more expensive drainage pipes that the other plumbers said that it was. Ken is very professional, knowledgeable, courteous and all around good, trusting guy. If anyone said otherwise, they were trying to get him to do the work for free and take advantage of him. He's very prompt and accommodating. He's even came out in the evening and weekends. He has since worked on several other projects in and around my house which I am very pleased with. One time I suggested that I may need work on something and he told me I didn't. A lot of unsavory plumbers would have said yes you do and taken my money. He didn't. He's my plumber for life and I stake my reputation on him. He's that good. A very Satisfied Customer, Margaret Oliver

Our hot tub quit working and the outside temperatures were in the low teens. Dan sent a professional tech named Johann who arrived at the promised time the very next day. Johann quickly diagnosed and repaired the problem with parts he had on his truck. I highly recommend this company.
