Home Organizing

Not only is Christina a great person but she is a truly outstanding organizer and did a terrific job in helping me tackle the organization of my clothing. In fact, I was so happy with the result and her professionalism that I booked her for two additional sessions at the conclusion of our first. She responded very quickly to my initial inquiry and made herself available during the week of our initial conversation. She arrived promptly for our appointment and, after speaking with me about my goals and objectives, she explained her methodology. We then got to work. After nearly four hours, I was amazed at how much we accomplished and, admittedly, a little tired. I also realized how valuable her organizational services were in not only organizing my space but in helping me creating a living space that I can relax in and find peace. I eagerly look forward to her return to tackle additional areas of the home. We have plenty of opportunities ahead of us. I have a lot of respect for Christina’s expertise and also found her to be a warm and gently spirit. I unhesitatingly recommend her to anyone seeking help in making sense of all aspects of their living space. This is money very well invested.

Although I have two young children, which can make keeping an organized home challenging, I tend to consider myself extremely tidy and organized. Over the past few years, I realized that my wife and I had accumulated so much “stuff” that the clutter was actually stressing me out. Initially, we had reached out to Christina in hopes that she could come in and help tackle our master closet and my wife’s vanity area in one session and be done. I figured I could then handle the rest of the organization and decluttering on my own. However, the session proved to be so productive and helpful that we've had her back several more times over the past few months in order to seriously declutter the entire house, almost on a room by room, or subject matter by subject matter basis! The amount of paperwork, clothing, toys for our children, Tchotchkes, books, and other household items that we no longer need, or use, is truly astonishing. It is so refreshing to have a lighter and clearer space and we cannot recommend Christina enough.

Christina set up a call with me the same day I inquired. We made an appointment for shortly there after, and tackled my kitchen in two sessions. She was really considerate and tactful in helping me decide if I needed to keep things vs donate them. She made it super easy to donate items others could use, by offering a service to take my items to the donation center. She came prepared with supplies, and brought organizer options for me to purchase after assessing my needs! In all honesty, I would have continued to put this project off without Christina’s help. I’m so glad I didn’t wait any longer though, my husband and I love our newly organized kitchen and pantry. I highly recommend Christina’s service. I look forward to working with her again for other areas in my home.

Christina of Creating Space DC is certified by organizational expert Marie Kondo and I learned of her via the Kondo website. She really helped me organize the major categories of items in my house causing my clutter. (clothes, papers, kitchen/pantry, hardware/cleaning supplies, books, and electronics). I cannot believe how much stuff we removed from my home! She exemplifies and puts into action the Kondo method of deciding what you truly value/need and removing the rest. Then you find the right place for everything to be put and easily accessed when you need it. She pushes you to contemplate what you really need, which is not always easy. Yes, you can read Marie Kondo's book, watch the Netflix show, etc., but to have someone actually work alongside you to actually get it done is invaluable. This is not an inexpensive service, but well worth the money for busy professionals and/or parents. I could never have done all this on my own in such a short period of time. Declutter your space, declutter your mind!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I always begin with a phone call. A friendly chat to learn about you and tell you about the process. In our first 4-hour session, you’ll give me a quick tour of the whole home. Then we’ll sit down and discuss your challenges and establish your goals. Next, we’ll dig into the first area to declutter.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have done over 900 hours of KonMari organizing with clients, making me a Certified KonMari Platinum Consultant. I’m a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a Navy veteran. I have also been teaching yoga for about 15 years. I’m a northern Virginia native currently living in northeast DC.
