Introduction: Where do I begin? In 1988, I started a joint venture in video and film production. Twenty-one years later, I am still doing what I love. I do lighting for concerts, film, TV, and video. Making an early mark in the hey day of music videos, I learned the value of making the project look like a million bucks but spending far, far less.
From there to feature work, I learned the Hollywood regimentally while I polished my craft, working under some of the greatest DPs of our time. I moved from there to television, working on special project for BET like the Walk of Fame awards show, BET Jazz, and Bobby Jones Gospel. The latter two opened to door for concert lighting.
I was given the opportunity to work for four of the founders of R and B music, the Four Kings (Jerry Butler, Ben E. King, Gene Chandler, and Lloyd Price), each is a dynamic force, but when they are on stage together, it is a show to behold. My second love is music, which makes doing concert work so incredible; I get to do my job while hearing live music.
I am also a technology friendly, from the newest to the latest. I have to use it, from LED technology, to the latest in lighting/video convergence. I have a confession. I still read the manuals. But that is what keeps me going, to learn something new each day, something I can give my clients that will keep them ahead of the pack.
