Hadrian C. says, "After I moved from a large house into a much smaller apartment, I realized I needed help organizing my possessions in this new space. In hiring a professional to help, it was very important to me to find an individual who was exceptionally talented at organizing, pleasant to work with, AND non-judgmental. Amanda is all of those things and more. Amanda of Proper Place Organizing has an uncanny ability to turn chaos into order. What is an enormous, completely overwhelming task for me, she is able to break down into small, manageable steps for us to work on together. She quickly and easily sees the big picture of how to sort and organize spaces, but she is also flexible and listens to what I need and what’s important to me. She is an excellent problem-solver, a hard worker, and she always comes prepared with labels, bins, tools, permanent markers, tape, boxes, you name it. Her analytical and organizational skills are top-notch, but so are her people skills. Often we messy/unorganized people are shamed for the state of our living spaces, and I definitely didn’t want someone who would judge me while I was being vulnerable in asking for help. Unlike many professional organizer types, Amanda doesn’t act superior to me and isn’t judgmental at all, and instead assumes a dual role as both a helper and guide. She is a joy to work with — caring, funny, thoughtful, accepting, trustworthy, and a great listener. When I was looking for someone to help, I was also concerned that an organizer would just want to throw away my possessions and that they’d do so without my permission. Amanda has never, ever done that. She is very gentle and may make suggestions or recommend you make choices between similar items — which to keep, which to donate, and which to throw away — but she honors and respects whatever choices I make. Additionally, Amanda has done many things to help me that are necessary to the organizational process but yet are beyond what most would consider simple organizing. Such tasks include helping me put together particle board-backed shelving for my child’s toys, hang small paintings, locate a suitable bookshelf at a thrift store, figure out ways to display my child’s artwork, move furniture, and even paint a new bookcase. Thanks to Amanda, not only is my apartment much more organized and locating specific items much less difficult, but most significantly, I’ve welcomed visitors into my living space for the first time in years! Amanda’s help has been invaluable to me and my family. I highly, highly recommend her services to anyone needing assistance with organizing their home."See more
