Carmine is an excellent communicator insisting on meeting his clients in person so that he can get the human aspect of writing a resume. Carmine provided me a well written resume that I can use on any job that I apply for. I would recommend Carmine and his company to anyone who wants to get a competitive edge in the job market.

We are trying to bring up our son's ACT score on a rather compressed schedule. Mr. Balgobin's style is probably best suited to those who are able to start the process a little sooner than we did, but he has risen to the challenge and our son's practice scores are steadily showing improvement with each passing session. For anyone who is prepared to invest in a sufficient number of classes to achieve the desired results, I believe they will find Mr. Balgobin to be reliable and see steady progress. Tutoring is a highly personal interaction and therefore "personality fit" and teaching style is everything. The 3-hour evaluation session that Mr. Balgobin holds for each prospective student, presents a good opportunity to find out if the fit will be the right one and set the expectations for the program that follows. Tutoring sessions are held at the library, in a private meeting room when available. Mr. Balgobin's focus tends to be reading and writing with an emphasis on test technique and pace/timing. He has brought along his son (an ace student in mathematics), to help with math sessions. I'm writing this review partway through the tutoring program, and the ultimate proof will be in the eventual ACT results, but based on experience to date I am able to give a positive review. If you are searching for a tutor, take the time to check out his services.

"Deborah DeNicola is not only a writer whose work is straight from the Source, a poet whose words bring us to truth through their exquisite expression of her vision, she is one of the finest editors I have had the pleasure to work with. She is a brilliant reader who helped me greatly to hone and edit my manuscript. Her sharp critiquing and suggestions helped me to achieve my own creative goals." Let me start by saying, I hired a resume writer last year and although it was better than I could do, it just did not grab me. Karen quoted me a year previous and dummy me, I chose someone else. I then messaged her a year later and she not only responded but was more than happy to assist me. I received my resume in an acceptable amount of time and it looked great! My new resume is something to be proud of. It is contemporary, clean and easy to read. Karen took time to ask questions about my work history and write a stellar resume! If I could give her 6 stars, I would!

Melinda worked with our daughter for two years. At the time our daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and she was struggling at school. Melinda was able to bring the best in her. Melinda taught her organizational skills, comprehension and memorization techniques and critical thinking. She helped our daughter in English, Social Sciences, Public speaking and writing. Our daughter went from a C student to an A student. Melinda gave her the boost and self confidence she needed to start high school. We will always be grateful to Melinda. Highly recommended.

I love writing about ideas but I don't have the skills to do the editing on my own and that's why I reached out to Erica who has many years of experience. She was exactly what I needed to bring my first book up to standards. She was quick and gave me additional guidance and ideas on how to express and communicate things more professionally. I will use her services for my second book too. Don't waste time and wondering who can help you. Get Erica to help you now to get the job done!

I have been to three messaging sessions with him and superior to any I have had elsewhere. I generally do not write reviews; however, this place is worth my time to submit. He is a phenomenal masseuse, I would recommend him to everyone and plan to return soon. Just when you are laying there thinking it can't get better, it does!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

    • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
    • Strong writing skills.
    • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
    • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
    • Expertise in your target area.
    • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

    • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
    • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
