Introduction: I value the importance of arming children with water survival and swimming skills, which is why I have spent more than 10 years teaching swimming to both children and adults.
I learned how to swim before I learned to walk. I have over ten years of professional experience as a swim instructor and I have worked with children as young as 6 months and ranging in age up through adulthood.
As a result of having many years of experience, I understand the importance of working with each student to cater to their learning style. Part of how I learn to do this is through communication. Communication between myself and the child is so important, so the child does not become fearful and can learn more easily. I strongly believe that swimming is a life-changing skill, and I strive to ensure that each student gets the most out of their experience with Fun In The Sun.
Learning to swim is so important and because I live in Florida and we are surrounded by water, I feel it is imperative that all the children learn to swim, or at the very least, master basic survival skills.
I am also a children's and adult's yoga instructor and use yoga together with swimming. I do this as it helps the child stretch their bodies, build confidence, learn more quickly as well as so many other amazing benefits. I find that practicing yoga in addition to swimming, makes my business unique as well as fun for the child, which if learning is fun, children will enjoy it and want to continue.
I have a true passion with working with children. I truly enjoy watching children experience something as amazing as swimming as it is opening up a whole new world for them.
I find it very rewarding when I see children become excited every time they learn something new. They become very proud of themselves, which gives them the self-confidence to want to learn more. I was able to witness this through my experience not only how children learn but what gave them the motivation to continue learning. Experiences like these, have given me the desire to always find new ways to teach. The combination of each child's excitement to learn and my love for swimming, makes me want to continue to share my love of swimming with others.
