He has done a lot of work for me including Exterior painting of our house, my kitchen cabinets and it has held up really well for the last year and a half; his work is definitely worth passing onto others and he efficiently got the job done in the time frame he said it would be done. I will continue to use him for future work I might have and highly recommend to anyone

Mr Chambers has been our "go to guy" for ALL our remodeling needs and emergency "fixes" since 2009. The work A1 Handyman Home Improvements completed for us included painting, carpet removal, laying wood flooring, custom made valances, rehanging a fire door to the garage and refurbishing our screen door. To include interior decorating advise, in an effort to modernize our modest older home. Noel is expeditious, reasonable with price quotes and detail oriented. He takes great pride in his work which makes for us, a quality product! He was open to feedback and maintained a true sense of accountability and professionalism during his services , which added to our customer satisfaction. In the past ,when he saw something that needed fixing, (during his contracted work), he brought it to our attention, and then, followed through with repair. A truly honest and dependable man. I have left Noel and his team alone, with full access to my home in my absence and NEVER doubted at any time his trustworthiness. We fully recommend him, and look forward to working with him in the near future!

Larry was hired for a number of repairs after Irma. Screen replacement, painting, roof repair.... He was extremely thorough and very conscience about the quality of work he performed. Very happy - would definitely recommend for any type of repair you may have.

I recently had my townhouse painted by Adair. He was an excellent painter. His patch work to prep the walls for painting was excellent as was the actual interior and exterior painting. Adair was very polite and professional. Without question I would use him again. I wish I could take him back to NJ to paint my house there.

I used American Painting for my home interior painting and flooring needs. The crew is professional and gets the job done right and on time. The color came out as selected and my family including the kids were pleased and happy with the look. In addition to painting our home interior we had wood floors installed throughout the 1st floor that look great! We would certainly recommend American Painting and will use them again for future needs.

I needed to have 2 trees removed and two flower beds cleaned out. They worked hard in the hot sun to complete the task and clean up the debris.

I couldn't be happier with the job done by Jaco Kotze, owner of Jahluka Painting. I had a lot of issues with water damaged wood and loose and falling stucco. Jaco not only painted my house he replaced wood trim, repaired the stucco, removed colonial shutters and attached loose wires, cables and pipes to the house before he even began painting. He also pressure washed and color sealed my driveway with a high quality product. The house and drive look brand new. The difference between Jaco and other painters is his ability to repair damaged wood and stucco in old homes and make them look the best they possibly can. He's dedicated to doing the best job possible, is friendly and has a great work ethic. I'm very happy.

We hired Tim to repair a piece of drywall in the kitchen that came out when we were removing the old tile backsplash. Tim arrived the next morning, on time and got the job done in 2.5 hours. He was quick to respond to my messages on Thumbtack and did a great job.

I had a family reunion a couple of month ago and needed a deep clean in my home and a pressure wash in my pool area. I hired Lilliam for the job. I have to say; Lilliam and her staff did a wonderful job more then what I expected. My back patio looked like new again, my windows not a scratch on them. However they looked like if the window was open not close, my home didn’t only look clean but smelled clean. They removed all the dirty linen from the bathrooms and replace them with clean ones. They was very professional and organized. I have recommend them to my family and friends. Thank you Lilliam for a great job.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best way to remove wallpaper?

There are several proven methods for wallpaper removal; each has its pros and cons, but some are definitely easier. Peeling is usually the least painful, followed by soaking and stripping. Dry-stripping is the next most time-consuming, and steaming the most work. The average wallpaper removal job costs between $360 and $560. The method of removal can affect the cost, as steaming takes longer than peeling and will therefore typically cost more. Peeling wallpaper off is usually the quickest method. To see if your wallpaper can be peeled off, try gently edging up a corner and carefully peeling the paper off the wall in strips. If you can’t peel, then you’ll have to score and strip it, either by dry-stripping or by soaking and then stripping. Plaster walls can withstand moisture and can stand up to soaking and stripping, but drywall should not be soaked. For very stubborn wallpaper, steaming may be necessary, which is time-consuming but effective. If you prefer not to attempt these methods yourself, wallpaper removal pros have the proper tools and experience to quickly take down wallpaper and also repair any damage to your walls.

How much does it cost to remove wallpaper in a room?

The national wallpaper removal cost averages $360-$560, which will typically include multiple rooms. Pros often charge by the square foot to remove egregious wallpaper that is long past its prime. Wallpaper removal cost may range anywhere from 60 cents to $1.50 or more per square foot. A pro may estimate removal costs ranging between $160 and $300 for a medium-sized room. Costs can vary due to ceiling height, and some pros add a skim coat to make repainting or re-papering smoother. Here are some examples of average costs to remove wallpaper:

    • Foyer: 36-120 square feet, $21.60-$180.
    • Powder room: 16-36 square feet, $9.60-$54.
    • Living or dining room: 120-252 square feet, $72-$378.
    • Family room: 192-384 square feet, $115.20-$576.
    • Bedroom: 100-224 square feet, $60-$336.
    • Guest bath: 45-84 square feet, $27-$126.
    • Master bedroom: 168-384 square feet, $100.80-$576.
    • Master bath: 54-160 square feet, $32.40-$240.

Once the old wallpaper is gone, the average cost to install new wallpaper is $240-$350.
