We were impressed right from the start. We sent a request for a quote on a Sunday, he contacted us, almost immediately. Showed up. Quoted us, without pressure, a very fair price. Due to his responsiveness & no pressure sales presentation, we went ahead and gave him the job. This is very unusual for us, but we couldn't be happier. We've since had solar pool panels installed. The technician that we've used for over 15 years, even commented on what a great job was done on our roof. Finally, Paul has made sure we were completely satisfied throughout the process. We have asked now him to quote us insulation for our attic & impact windows for our home.

Roberto did excellent work and I am so glad to have found a knowledgeable and trusty handyman for future projects! He spent a whole day at my house installing 3 light fixtures, installing new blinds for several windows, putting up shelves, and putting together and installing a complicated new sink faucet. He worked very efficiently but took his time to do the job right, going above and beyond to make sure things worked/looked properly. Would highly recommend Roberto!

Hi, Chris, insulated the outer walls in my attic, installed a soffit vent, 2 100" panel track window treatments, 2 shades totaling 100", reinforced and insulated two openings in the outside of my villa, cleaned my dryer vent, moved the insulation covering the soffit vents in 7 hours. And was clean, neat and so very knowledgeable. I am truly impressed with his work and his work ethic. He is my extra set of hands. Thank you Chris for a job well done. Chris said he was going to be at my home at 8am and was there at 7:45. So unusual in this day. I have had to wait hours for people to show or worse yet not show.

Jeffrey and his crew are very professional There is not a tasl I ask them to do that could not be done Example: shutrters, above the ground pool, tavers drive way and porch, rebuild complete kitchen, redo garage, replace computer with windows 7 and a 55 galon fish tank. They treat you like family and you intern feel like they are family. I still have a few projects they are going to do build front porch, Put awning up over back patio. They also built a double carport for my grandson with a slicing gate. I recdommend them highly and will probably use them in the future for anything I would like have done. They created me lovely home. Also they provided me a service not usually done. No pool service would take care of my pool because it is above the ground. I am single and 67 so it is a little hard for me to do some of it. So, they agreeded to service it for me. Who better to take care of my pool then the people who built it. There service and knowlege of individual jobs was very good. Everything went well I have no complants about there work or ethicks

Adrian and Luis were exceptional. I researched so many companies before I picked one to replace my battered exterior french doors and large single hung window. I needed extra security in these plus they started just falling apart. Other companies tried to up sell me, quoted double yes double the price and then two others from another company just stared waiting for the boss. I mention what happened before ALCO got the job because I was in despair. When they came in, they presented themselves as professionals, were neat, organized, discussed options and gave a written estimate which they stuck to. In fact, they were the ONLY company that bothered to board up broken window panes for me...free. It was a wait for the materials but they prepared me for that and managed to even get them on time in hurricane season. Anytime I called or texted, they answered me quickly. They never got annoyed with the smallest question. Today was the big day. I figured it would take about 1 1/2 days with all the work to do..They finished in about 3-4 hours. The french doors look beautiful (measurements were exact) and the extra locking security on them was just as promised. The window was a breeze too. There wasn't a speck of dust in my room where the doors exited to the outside. Cosmetically, even the caulking was a clean line. No breaking of concrete or any problem. They offered to come back even if the caulk retracted! They threw the garbage out for me including the glass and it was cleaner when they left than before. The money. They got the deposit, recorded carefully, explained everything to me. When the bal. was paid, same thing. Absolutely not even the cost of a screw was added. I would say it was a fair price for the work but actually it was better than that as I had peace of mind with them here.I didnt want to tell them but actually they were the best estimate I got too. So, as they were leaving, I looked at my front windows (I have a mountain of windows back and front). I asked and yes, I am going to start by replacing the front ones first with more impact glass. Usually i m glad when workmen leave but they were kinda light hearted and Ill be looking forward to working with them again.Adrian and Luis are highly recommended for any window and door issues you have. Thanks Alco !!

some of my windows were painted shut and some of the awning window cranks didn't work very well, they are very old and hadn't been open by the pervious owner. Its not often that you can find an honest, trustworthy person. Jeremy Hurley was that and more. From contacting me in a timely manner to doing the job in a timely manner. We highly recommend Jeremy!

So far the work has been great! Luis has helped us install new baseboards for our entire house. He also helped us demolish a structure. Lastly, he helped us smooth out plaster for the outside of the house. All the work has been done in a timely manner with great communication. I greatly recommend. We are also having him work on other projects for the future such as installing new windows.:)

We replaced windows in our home we recently purchased in Fort Lauderdale. The Window Guys were not only priced below the other companies I received quotes for, but they were very knowledgeable about the various impact windows which worked best for my home. We were not sure which manufacturer to go with, but The Window Guys eliminated that headache for us and provided us with the best manufacturer for our home at the best price. We will definitely recommend them to all of our friends and use them for future work we will need.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

    • Trim repair:
      • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
      • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
    • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
    • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
      • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
      • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
        • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
