- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before the initial session the new customer (client) must fill out an intake form and the client therapist agreement policy. I go over or review the intake form with the client for discussion. After the goals are clearly understood, I explain the draping method depending on the way the body will be assessed, how much can it be treated by massage and whether the client is concerned about his/her unintended skin area exposed to air temperature and viewing. In my decision as to whether a client can be massaged the options are getting the massage at the booked time, referring the client to a physician or referring the healthcare practitioner or recommending the client postpone the massage for later. Then before and during the massage, the assessment and treatment is explained as necessary. If the client's major goal is relaxation, then during the massage talking is at a minimum. In any case, client feedback is important at all times. After the massage session is over an evaluation is gone through and the client, and I discuss a possible treatment plan for a number of other sessions as determined.
