I've always wanted to sing in public but was told by my family it would be too painful for the audience. Needless to say, I never took the step, not even to try Karaoke. After four lessons, I am confident I will hold my own when I sing in public. In addition to being competent, Caryn is sensitive and makes the lessons interesting, entertaining and well worth the cost. I highly recommend her as a singing coach. No matter what your age, your singing will be much better and you will be more confident. Give her a try, you will not be disappointed.

I was looking for someone close by that would be willing to teach Spanish lessons in a face-to-face setting. Jeannette provides me with Spanish lessons 3 times a week at my house. She is punctual and organized. Jeannette will assign homework if you want and is helpful at clarifying any questions you may have. I have recommended Jeanette to several people I know personally and would recommend her to anyone here on this site. I know she also does lessons online if you're so inclined.

I am very pleased with Maria's style of teaching and her fun personality has made learning a more easeful experience. She's created a solid foundation from which I have gained a better understanding of the spanish language and her homework assignments have helped me tremendously. I have learned a great deal in just three or four lessons. I want very much to become fluent in spanish for personal and professional reasons and believe I can achieve that goal with Maria's tutelage. I highly recommend her service! Shelley

My son had previously taken piano lessons for two years but the teacher moved away. He took a little break and resumed with Musik Mogul. I am VERY pleased with the results. He is progressing very rapidly and loves his teacher. I would recommend them to anyone!

Our son is playing violin in the very competitive school orchestra at the best international school in South Korea. He is one of the top players there. We are visiting FLL for this summer and found Janie from Thumbtack. In the beginning we wanted to continue our son's violin lesson here just to maintain his level during the summer. However, we were totally shocked to watch Janie's teaching for our son. She is an excellent violinist having plenty of experience. Also, she knows how to teach her student and she has really high passion in teaching. Her teaching is so systematic and firm. Our son's playing has been being upgraded every day and he is buliding a strong fundamental. We can notice the apprent progress for each lesson. Our son is receiving the lesson almost every day. It is our best luck to meet her in this summer. We will keep in touch with Janie even after going back to Korea and communicate with her for internet skype lessons. Definetely we will send our son to her for the next summer. Finally, the best of the best thing with Janie is her mentorship. Our son is learning examplary behavior, attitude, effort, passion, sincerity, etc. from her.

We had the pleasure of having Paulina give some lessons to our teenage daughter during a short stay in South Florida. Paulina was always on time, very responsive, and a great teacher. Most importantly, her joviality made it a pleasure to work with her, both for parents and daughter!

I took Doctor Aparicio's 10 hour online course to help with my Spanish at work. I have to say she is an authentic teacher!!! I have never taken a course on line with a professor attending me a full hour and I have to say I learned more than I thought possible. I like that she customised all the lessons for me, according to my needs, and she made me work hard. She is very inspirational, fun, and a sweet and demanding professional. She teaches you not only to be fluent when speaking but also to learn about the culture in Latin America and Spain. She is very knowledgeable about art, history, linguistics, literature.... She is one of a kind. There are not may profs like her left. I put in practice what I learned with her since day 1 and I am thinking of hiring her to improve my Spanish. I want it for travelling and be able to communicate in Spanish at a higher lever.

I have taken music lessons with Cliff ever since I was young. I had band experiences, and he helped really shape the first rock band I was ever in. I've been recording with him, and he's a very chill guy, such a great musician. I always have a good experience when working with him! Very knowledgable about so much, and really comfortable to be around. Great teacher!

I feel in love with Pilates because of frank! I have a very stressful job and lots of stresses in my personal life but going to Pilates with frank taught me how to put all that out of my mind the minute I walked in the door and started to breathe. I was supposed to have surgey on my shoulder but I was able to strengthen muscles and gain flexibility and was able to cancel my surgery. I felt strong, my body moved easier and I felt like my body was actually elongating!

I started taking lessons with Mitch at the same time that my 7 year old son did and we both are enjoying it so much. Mitch has the patience and charisma needed to keep my 7 year old's attention while at the same time has been a cool teacher for me. In a short amount of time I have grown tremendously and my 7 year old is loving learning guitar. My 11 year old is now interested as well so we have the makings of a garage band :). I strongly recommend Mitch!

At the age of 57 with no musical experience, I started piano lessons with Susan. Not only is she a talented musician and performer, but also a patient and effective teacher. In one year she's brought me along further than I ever expected, breaking down music theory in a way that makes it logical and digestible. In addition, by customizing her approach to my music tastes and sharing her life experiences as a professional musician, Susan builds confidence and makes it all fun.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is CPR training?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (better known as CPR) is a lifesaving manual technique that pumps oxygenated blood back into the body’s organs if someone’s heart or breathing has stopped. A variety of CPR training is available to community members, employees and healthcare providers. CPR training may last two to five hours or more, depending on the content and the target audience. During the training, students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation. There are different CPR techniques for adults and children, but with both you will learn how to determine whether the person is conscious before administering chest compression. During the training you’ll learn chest compression techniques for adults and different techniques for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Students learn how to properly administer chest compressions, when the technique is appropriate and when it is not, and how long you must perform rescue measures. Students also learn what an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is and how to use it if necessary to shock a patient before administering CPR chest compressions.

How do I become CPR and first aid certified?

You can earn CPR training and receive first aid certification in a number of ways. Choose an online course to learn the materials remotely and then find a testing location to complete the certification process with an in-person demonstration of your knowledge and skills. Encourage your workplace to host a first aid and CPR training so employees can learn what to do in case of a workplace emergency and how to respond with lifesaving techniques. You may also be able to take a CPR or first aid class in your community. A basic CPR training may run four to five hours. After receiving CPR training, you’ll know how to respond if an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing. You’ll learn how to use chest compressions to keep blood pumping to a person’s organs, which can keep them alive until an emergency responder can arrive. First aid and CPR training can also include education about how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

    What is first aid training?

With first aid training, you may be able to help save a life. First aid training can teach people who are not medical professionals how to help a sick or injured person in crisis before an ambulance arrives on the scene. Most commonly, first aid training helps teach you how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

First aid training can teach you how to respond in a variety of emergency situations, including:

    • Asthma attack
    • Anaphylaxis
    • Burns
    • Choking
    • Diabetic emergencies
    • External bleeding
    • Heart attack
    • Poisoning
    • Neck, head or back injury
    • Stroke
    • Seizure

First aid training classes may be offered by professionals who are affiliated with the Red Cross, which offers online, in-person, and blended training classes. First aid classes are also often offered through local recreation centers, city services, schools, hospitals and private companies.

How much do Spanish tutors charge?

Nationally, the average cost for a Spanish tutor ranges from $30 to $40 per hour. The cost for a Spanish tutor can vary depending on whether you choose private instruction or group lessons. Geographic location can affect cost; tutors in expensive cities and pricier regions command higher rates than in rural areas and small towns. The experience and education of the Spanish tutor will also affect their rates. For adult education, many people learning Spanish choose to join a Spanish school with tutors who teach group classes and also offer private tutoring for students. Typically these schools charge a monthly tuition that gives students access to a set number of classes per week, with private tutoring available at an additional cost. One example of an average cost is a monthly tuition of $200, which includes five 90-minute group lessons per month. Monthly tuition can vary depending on the school and the teachers. Short-term workshops are also a way to learn Spanish. Students may work with a Spanish tutor and group of other students at their skill level for a short period of time. One example of an average price is $100 for an eight-week course, with one 60-minute group class per week.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
